1. DJI Phantom 4
The Phantom 4 is one of the most complete aerial platforms on the market, it comes with a 3-axis gimbal, 4K camera, it has multiple additional sensors like visual positioning system, ultrasonic altitude hold and front collision detection sensors. It also has a very good flight time with over real 20 minutes (28 declared) and long range of operation.
With the addition of its low price compared to its technical package is one of the best on the market. The fun doesn’t stop here with a flick of a switch the Phantom 4 can be switched into “SPORT” mode and that will almost get you in racing quad territory speed.
Other things were also improved like quick detach propellers for easy and fast storage and camera image quality was further optimized from previous models. Last but not least the Phantom 4 comes with more intelligent flight modes like tap to fly, automatic follow, point of interest and visual tracking of objects.
2. DJI Mavic
The newly released Mavic brings new features to the DJI’s quads, it uses OccuSync instead of LightBridge thus making it controllable at a distance up to 8 km.
This I just one of the multiple advantages of the new model. The new shape with foldable arms and propels make it to have such a small footprint that it will almost fit in your jeans back pocket!
With the addition of LiHv chemistry that it’s found on it’s bigger siblings it enables the little Mavic to reach up to 27 minutes of flight time. Of course the rest of the specs are also up to date like full 3-axis gimbal stabilization, 4K camera and added sensor for better positioning and stability.
3. DJI Phantom 3 Pro
The Phantom 3 was and still is one of the most well developed quads from DJI, it was also one of the first all in one quads that incorporated a 3-axis gimbal with a 4K UHD camera and came ready to fly.
With the addition of the DJI Go APP and lightbrige technology this quad is very easy to be operated and has a very long operation range, while the FPV stream is set on your tablet or smartphone in HD 720p quality.
The provided intelligent battery uses high voltage lithium chemistry and has a higher capacity thus keeping the aircraft in the air up to 23 minutes and with the 100W charger it will take under an hour to fully recharge.
Another feature of the Phantom 3 is the dual GPS system that uses GPS and GLONASS improving precision immensely which has led to the nickname of “flying tripod in the sky”.
4. Swellpro Splash Drone Mariner
The Mariner is a “different” quadcopter, this is designed from the ground up to be 100% waterproof. Waterproof protection is taken to a higher level as this quadcopter besides flying in the rain it can land on water and will float.
This special ability makes it ideal for shooting videos over vast surfaces of water like lakes, rivers or the sea. The used technical platform is also up to date and has GPS along with intelligent flight modes like automatic return to home.
Beside the normal features this model has a very useful “extra” in form of a dedicated servo or catch mechanism, so you can attach and release an item from it.
The payload that the quadcopter can carry is also higher and to keep it in the air a 4S battery is used. With the addition of a good quality DEVO transmitter and FPV module the range of operation can get up to 2 km.
5. DJI Phantom 3 Advanced
The Phantom 3 Advanced has the same capabilities as the Pro version when it comes to the aircraft, the same components and array of sensors is used, just with a single difference, the proprietary camera initially only supported 1080p and then was upgraded with a firmware update to 2.7K @30 fps.
Other than this there are no differences thus making this one of the best value for money quadcopter you can buy.
6. XK Detect X380
The XK X380 is a very popular model and due to is lower price it has got a large share of the market and inspired a lot of hobby users to modify it and improve it by their own wish.
The working technology found in this model is relatively know and standard so it doesn’t use proprietary digitally encoded FPV transmission or “intelligent batteries”.
What is also interesting about this model is that with some modifications users have taken this quad up to 5 km away or stayed in the air up to 30 minutes.
7. Zerotech Dobby Mini Selfie Drone
The Dobby from Zerotech is a different kind of drone and addresses another type of market, the miniature quad beside it’s reduces size it also has folding arms and folding propellers making it have a transport size of an average computer mouse.
Although the dobby is so small it packs an impressive technology package, it has GPS, and smart flight modes and it’s gets controlled directly from a smartphone without needing a dedicated controller.
Actually the control algorithms in this tiny quad are so advanced that it basically flies itself and you just tap to control it. The small Dobby was created with selfies in mind and it’s great for taking pictures in almost every spot, it’s like a flying selfie stick.
The Dobby can also record video up to 4K and has electronic image stabilization in lower resolution like Full HD.
8. XK X500 Aircam
The X500 Aircam from XK is a large flying platform intended more for hobbyist than regular users. Due to its larger size and powerful motors (2808 660/KV) this quad is intended to carry a gimbal, a camera and full FPV setup.
The electronics and motors have been adapted to support 4S large capacity batteries thus resulting in very good flight times that easily reach 30-35 minutes.
The quad also has very good GPS positioning and comes with intelligent flight modes like point of interest (circle), panorama and automatic return to home.
9. Hubsan H501S X4 Brushless Drone - Advanced Version
The Hubsan H501S X4 is an extremely popular quadcopter as it offers almost all the functions requested by customers ranging from beginners to enthusiast.
This little quad copter has powerful brushless motors that in combination with the 2S battery can keep it into the air up to 20 minutes and has GPS for position hold or automatic return to home.
The aircraft comes with a full HD camera and a full FPV setup that contains not only the video transmitter but also the receiver and the monitor which are nicely integrated into the remote controller.
Other useful operation is the automatic tracking so you can for example film yourself while cycling. All of the above fit into this little drone and the price value ratio is currently the best on the market.
10. Hubsan H109S X4 PRO
The Hubsan H109S X4 PRO is not only a RTF (Ready to fly) quadcopter but it’s also a full package drone that comes with all what’s necessary for a great aerial experience like a full HD FPV camera installed, a 3-axis gimbal, large 7000mAh flight battery that enables an absolute staggering 40 minutes operation time and a smart transmitter which has built in FPV monitor.
Other features include GPS position and multiple intelligent flight modes like point of interest orbit, waypoints or automatic return to home.
Another great option found on this model is the addition of a reusable safety parachute that can be deployed in case of an emergency potentially saving the quadcopter from a major crash.
