Most mobile phone manufacturers use customization layers that modify the aesthetics of the system and add some features. Huawei is one of the most extreme but also one of the most value-added.
When I started using Android the system was green. Some brands modified visual and internal aspects to improve the system. Little by little Google improved the base of Android and now it can be used perfectly without added interface.
What's more, many users appreciate that manufacturers do that, that they don't modify the system, but it has to be said that sometimes useful functions are incorporated.
Today I'm going to talk about Huawei Share, a system that has been improved in version 8.1 of EMUI and that allows using the mobile as an SMB server. Or put another way, we can put it as another element in a home network connected by Wifi.
The first thing to explain is that Huawei Share is a feature that has been around for a long time on Huawei mobiles. It was used, and is used, to pass information easily from one mobile with this technology to another that also has it.
The novelty is that in EMUI 8.1 the company has added an option that allows us to share files with our computer in an extremely simple way because it joins our Wifi network as a device, being able to navigate through the files easily.
To configure it for the first time we have to go to the Settings and in the upper area we look for Huawei Share. Also we can enter from the icon of the bar of direct accesses in the notifications, selecting it so that it appears when sliding and then leaving pressed the icon.
Once inside we activate the first and second option, to create an SMB server with our smartphone.
We choose the user and the password in the mobile and then we go to our computer.
In the PC we have to select the folder that puts Network, and in it to wait that all the connected devices load. In the example the mobile is called FERP20. When it shows it we double click and it will ask for the user and the password that we have put in the mobile.
Once done we can browse to copy files of all kinds. Personally I find it comfortable to do it with large files such as movies or series. It is also useful when we have to pass hundreds of photos of a trip if we do not have space in our cloud.
As we have commented this function depends on the software of Huawei mobiles. For now is only implemented in the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro because they are the only ones that have EMUI 8.1 on Android 8.1 but it is a matter of time that other models are updated and add this possibility.
