How to download and install tvOS 13.3.1 beta on your Apple TV?

A stable version of an operating system always requires several previous test versions, and normally these are not only accessible to the companies' software engineers, but also to some users who may install them. The case of tvOS, the operating system of Apple TV, is also an example of this if we take into account that before each release of a final version some betas are released. That's why in this post we tell you how you can download and install a tvOS beta.

How to download a tvOS beta?

First of all, it should be noted that beta versions of an operating system may contain instability. This means that a number of errors may appear that would not normally be present in a final version. For example, unexpected restarts or applications that do not work as well as expected or do not work at all. Once we know this, and despite the fact that the beta can be uninstalled later, we proceed to know the installation method.

Public betas are the easiest to try on Apple TV and only differ from developer betas in that they come out a few hours or days later. The installation method doesn't require technical knowledge and won't even take you long. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1. Access Settings from your Apple TV.

Step 2. Go to System - Software Updates.

Step 3. You'll now see a screen that may only show two options (Software Update and Auto Update). If you slide down with the Siri Remote you will see the option "Get Beta Updates", just click on it.

Step 4. Confirm that you want to get beta updates and agree to Apple's terms and conditions.

Once you have done this, you will have entered the Apple TV beta program and each time a new beta comes out you will be able to install it on your device. If you have the option to install updates automatically, they will be installed as if they were another stable version without the need to do so manually.

The betas of operating systems such as iOS, iPadOS and even macOS can give a certain amount of game for the amount of novelties that come out year after year, however in the Apple TVs hardly receive news. This is logical considering that the purpose of this device is much more limited than that of other computers. That's why perhaps betas can arouse less interest, but if you had already installed one and you want to stop receiving it, you should do the following:

Step 1. Go to the Apple TV Settings.

Step 2. Go to System - Software Updates.

Step 3. You should click on the "Get Beta Updates" option and hit on "No".

This way you will stop receiving beta updates from tvOS and you will be able to continue in a stable version in which, except for some specific cases, you should have no problems or bugs.
