If your router supports UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), you can usually do this quickly with the small freeware "Router Reconnect". This saves searching for the router's power switch to disconnect it from the power supply for a few seconds before restarting.
First unzip the ZIP archive. Type "cmd" into the search field of the start menu and open the command line.
Then navigate to the newly created program folder and start "Router-Reconnect.exe". Check the output messages. If the program cooperates with your router, you will see a message about the detected router and its restart. Then you can set up a link to the program file for later use.
The tool is not compatible with all routers. It can happen that the LAN connection in the system is deactivated instead of the router restart and therefore a connection is no longer possible.
In this case, click on "Network and Internet" in the Control Panel and then on "Network and Sharing Center". Follow the "Change Adapter Settings" link.
Then right-click the disconnected LAN connection and select the "Enable" context command. After that, the Internet access works again, but you cannot use the tool for your router.
