The Find My iPhone and Find My Friends apps are integrated in a single place called Find My. But the most interesting thing about this update is that it comes with a new feature that allows devices to be tracked even when they are disconnected, creating a bluetooth connection network. This function also comes to Macs with Catalina macOS.
To use this feature, the user needs to have at least two Apple devices, with the same account. The computers generate a private key that is stored locally and shared only with devices that have the same Apple account. Computers also create a public, encrypted key that is constantly updated and shared with other devices.
The stolen or lost iPhone or Mac will emit a bluetooth signal that can be detected by any other Apple device. That information with the location of the computer will be sent, in encrypted form, to Apple's servers.
The user who lost his iPhone will get this encrypted information from Apple on the second device he has at hand, such as his Mac. With the private key, you can decrypt the sent location data and locate the lost computer.
The dark mode, which last year reached computers with macOS Mojave, is now also landing on mobile phones via iOS 13. What's the benefit? In addition to a different aesthetic touch and allowing the view to rest, it helps to consume less battery in the mobile.
More photo and video editing options are added. You can adjust the brightness and contrast as well as adjust the intensity of light effects in portrait mode.
It is also possible to rotate and cut the clips from Photos without any external app. Photos were redesigned and the way they group memories.
According to Apple, face unlock with Face ID could be up to 30 times faster; and apps will open up to twice as fast with the previous version of iOS.
An option is added to place favorite or interesting places on Maps in the Home, so you can get directions faster. There will also be a section with collections of places of interest and newly viewed sites.
Maps will also offer more details, thanks to the incorporation of Look Around which, in the best Google Street View style, allows you to have a 180 or 360 degree view of the space and scroll virtually on the map in an immersive way.
Improving the privacy of users was one of the axes of the presentation of iOS 13. In this sense, new options were added that allow users to have greater control over their privacy. Thus, for example, apps can be given access to the location only once and not permanently.
Connected security cameras will incorporate encryption into the stored material so that only users can see it from the Home app.
Sign in with Apple is another advancement in security and privacy. Apple now offers an authentication system to verify the user's identity via Touch ID or Face ID when accessing websites or apps. Thus, it will not be necessary to create new passwords in each case or resort to other authentication systems such as Google or Facebook.
The memojis now offer more customization options: it is possible to choose different haircuts, makeup and ornaments.
Once the animated emoji is created, it will be available as a sticker on the keyboard, ready to be used in chats and messages.
