Microdrive is a registered trademark for miniature, 1-inch hard disks produced by IBM. In 1999, IBM launched the first generation 1-inch Microdrive with storage capacities of 170 MB and 340 MB, but now it has appeared 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and even more.
Compared with before, the rotate speed of microdrive has decreased from 4200rpm to3600rpm, thus reducing the power consumption and increasing its stability.
1-inch hard disk area is just 1/3 that of the phone card. Its main capacity has reached to 1-4GB, and even 15GB (1 inch) and 60GB (1.8 inches) follow. Whether it is used for camera shooting, or data storage, is more than enough.
Adopting higher technology than the hard disk, to ensure its lifetime. It can be repeatedly erased and write for more than 30 million times, and work stably for five years.
This is not just for the needs of cushioning, but an important guarantee to improve the data transfer rate. Cushioning can be completed by the external memory, but if no cache, the speed of microdrive will be slower. General products are equipped with 128KB capacity data cache.
The power consumption of the micro hard disk is very small, and the USB can be used. If one interface is not enough, the two interfaces are definitely OK, which directly solves the trouble of adding the power to the hard disk box. Therefore, in the future, the hard disk type MP3 may be able to access the computer without a battery.
Flash storage always needs to move some old data around while writing, to ensure the flash's finite write life is consumed equally; if there were a bug in the wear leveling algorithm it could cause data loss if the card were unplugged at the exact wrong time. Data on a disk is modified in place, and hard drive algorithms have many years more experience and testing over flash.
Like other ordinary hard disks, micro hard disks are compatible with a variety of hard disk interfaces compatible with industry standards, which is mainly determined by the control chip, making it suitable for a variety of handheld devices.
Due to the special design of the micro hard disk, its shockproof capability is much stronger than that of the general notebook hard disk. Its special magnetic head loading and loading technology makes the impact resistance up to 1500G (non-working state) and 175G (working state). Even with the low-end reading device, the dual protection of the reader and the hard disk can avoid the internal impact of the hard disk. Not only as a micro hard drive MP3, but also provides reliable storage performance for digital cameras, laptops, PDAs, GPS and other portable devices.
