I am still a big fan of the Amazfit Bip. Why? No other smartwatch offers as many features and possibilities for about $50 than this one. Even if it is not perfect, it offers good value for money.
At the end of December 2018, the Amazfit Bip 2 received approval from the FCC, revealing the first details. Now, the Amazfit Bip 2 has appeared in its full glory and all the important technical data on the web. However, there seems to be an error in resolution, because with the 127 x 127 pixels specified, it would be much worse than its predecessor.
And since it will definitely look like the predecessor in outside design, so we can predict that the display resolution will remain the same. Otherwise, unfortunately, not much will change, except that it will now be officially waterproof after IP68 and has Bluetooth 4.2 LE.
Besides, the Amazfit Bip 2 may come with the same sensors as its predecessor, which include Triaxial Acceleration Sensor, PPG Heart Rate Sensor, Geomagnetic sensor, as well as GPS/GLONASS. And its 190 mAh excellent battery performance is enough to serve you up to a month.
In terms of color options, the Amazfit Bip will be like usual to have black, orange, white and green.
● Android from 4.4 or iOS from 8.0
● 1.2 "transflective display with 127 x 127 pixels
● 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3
● Heart Rate Monitor
● Bluetooth 4.2 LE
● IP 68 waterproof
● 31 g
● 190 mAh
As we have mentioned above, there is no much difference between the 2 generation Amazfit Bip smartwatches in design. But there are some updates in the core specs.
The original Amazfit Bip is only splashproof, while the upcoming Amazfit Bip 2 will offer a respectable 5ATM rating, which means that you can wear it when you are swimming under the water depth of 50 meters.
The second key upgrade is the connectivity thanks to the Bluetooth 4.2 LE, which will improve the connection speed.
The Amazfit Bip 2 is leaked to be priced at about $230. And it is expected to be released at the Huami’s third anniversary in September.
I am really very excited to see when the successor will finally become official and whether there will be any surprises or improvements. Because if it really only these minimal changes remain, I have the question of an upgrade. Is this really worth more than double the price?
