If you follow GIGA's coverage closely, you'll know that Sony has changed the names of its smartphones. The Sony Xperia 1 is the flagship model with the very best features. The Xperia 10 is a mid-range smartphone. In between, the Xperia 4 will soon be a slightly better version of the Xperia 10. Now, with the Xperia 2, a somewhat smaller version of the Xperia 1 comes into play. Visually slightly changed, but technically almost identical and the naming is a bit lower than the Xperia 1.
The following properties will differ between Xperia 1 and Xperia 2:
Smaller display: The Sony Xperia 2 should be equipped with a screen measuring 6.1 inches diagonally. The Xperia 1 has a 6.5 inch display.
Position of the camera: The triple camera of the Xperia 1 should also be installed in the Xperia 2. But it moves from the middle of the back to the left.
Smaller battery: According to information from cashkaro, the Xperia 2 is "only" equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery. The Xperia 1 on the other hand has a 3,300 mAh battery. The wireless charging function is retained.
Technically, the Xperia 2 is supposed to be similar to the Xperia 1. Sony should install a Snapdragon 855 processor with 6 GB RAM. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the right side of the case, there are stereo speakers and the same, rather angular design of the big brother. A price hasn't been mentioned yet. The Xperia 1 will eventually be available in Germany for 949 Euros. So the Xperia 2 could end up in the 849 Euro range. The presentation will take place during IFA 2019 at the beginning of September. Sounds like an interesting smartphone. But it takes Sony an infinite amount of time with the Xperia 1 to bring the mobile phone onto the market. So will the Xperia 2 not be available until Christmas - or early 2020? What do you think?
