On the latest beta of Android 10 Q, Google has brought several new features and emotions have not been ignored, far from it. As Emojipedia points out, this version in preparation for the mobile OS will welcome 230 new symbols - a number inflated by the emojis that exist in several versions.
Among them, 53 are gender-neutral. The symbols in question represent faces that could belong to both women and men. To achieve this result, nothing could be simpler: Google simply affixed a haircut that can hardly be categorically described as feminine or masculine.
In addition to that, the Mountain View firm also got rid of any clothing accessories that might suggest a particular genre.
It should be noted that these new emotions will obviously not replace those that already exist. They will first be deployed on Google Pixels before being released on all updated Android smartphones.
This approach is reminiscent of that of a collective of engineers who created an non-gendered voice for a vocal assistant.
