For some time now, Samsung has been transforming its high-end smartphones into PCs on the fly, by supporting the DisplayPort on USB type C and DeX mode. Huawei quickly followed him with his Mate range.
The first Android 10 Q beta is already available, and with it comes many new features under development. One of them is discreet, but in the process of being refined: a native PC mode.
XDA Developers is demonstrating this today, since it is not easily activated in its current state: you need to go through adb shell to be able to fully enjoy it. Anyway, we have a first overview:
We can see that as it stands, its functioning is quite basic. The desktop is completely empty by default, and prompts you to create your own shortcuts. Otherwise, the application drawer is on the right to find all your applications.
The most interesting thing is how it works. When launching an app, it takes advantage of the free window launched on Android 7.0 Nougat to allow you to give it the size you want. The wallpaper can also be modified as you wish.
However, this is only a first glimpse of a feature that is not yet complete. We will wait for the next betas to establish the real power, especially in the multitasking field.
