Android distribution figures are offered by Google every month to allow us curious people to know where the different versions of the OS stand. Or at least, they were: we haven't had the right to do so for some time now.
Some thought it was a way for the developer to hide an ever slower deployment. This is not the case in the end: it is a simple bug that will have blocked the usual machine. So here we are with the latest figures as of May 7, 2019.
It's hard to compare after so much absence, but Google is pleased with one thing: the Android 9.0 Pie version, the latest available, has reached 10.4% distribution as of today. Even more: this version has reached this major figure faster than any other in the past. This can be attributed to Treble, which has made a significant contribution to accelerating deployment.
However, it is not the most represented, of course. This honour belongs to Android 8 Oreo, which with its two versions reaches 28.3% of the devices. It is the only version to have improved since the last published figures. The third version is none other than Android 7 Nougat, at 19.2%.
The bug is fixed, but don't expect to find these figures every month. Google made it clear that these updates would now be less frequent.
