It has been years since Apple announced a new screen. Thanks to WWDC 2019, which was largely dedicated to iOS 13 and iPadOS, this has now been done. Tim Cook's company presented a retina 6K LCD screen to accompany the Mac Pro, the Pro Display XDR.

The screen features a data sheet that matches the Mac Pro 2019. The retina slab has a screen resolution of 6016 x 3384 pixels. It is composed of a total of 20 million pixels. Very bright, the screen can climb to 1600 nits. "Professionals will benefit from a more realistic viewing experience, essential for video and photo editing, 3D animation or color calibration," Apple promises in a release.

Small feature, the screen can be rotated to adopt a smartphone portrait mode." The Pro Stand offers both tilt and height adjustment, and also allows Pro Display XDR to switch to portrait mode, which is perfect for tasks such as editing photos, designing a web page or writing code," Apple says.

Apple has once again decided to sell its innovations at a high price. The 6K screen is indeed offered at a price of 4999 dollars. For its part, the Mac Pro even goes up to $5999 for the basic configuration. The price of the complete pack is therefore $11,000.

The screen is intended mainly for image professionals, graphic designers and video editors. Apple is exclusively targeting the corporate market, as with the previous Mac Pro or iMac Pro. For Adobe, the screen is even "a strong commitment of Apple to 3D creators".
