Cortex-A77 is the successor to the A76 architecture, and the new core is largely aligned with the characteristics of the previous generation, and remains the ARMv8.2 CPU core. Basic configurations, such as the cache size of A77, have also not changed compared to the previous generation, and are still 64KB L1 instructions and data caches, as well as 256Kb or 512KB L2 caches.
A77 is expected to continue to produce 7nm processes, the same 3GHz peak frequency as the previous generation, which means that 20% performance gains can be attributed entirely to changes in the architecture.
In addition to the CPU, Arm today released Valhall's GPU architecture and Mali-G77 GPU, three years before the release of the previous generation of Bifronst architectures.
The new architecture brings with it a new ISA and compute core design that addresses the main drawbacks of the Bifrost architecture.
ARM says G77 energy efficiency and area density improve 30%,GPU on machine learning load performance by 60%.
The architecture of the new Mali-G77 GPU allows mobile GPU performance to be 1.4 times times faster in the end of 2019 and 2020 without changing the process.
