The prototype of the station wagon is driven by a traditional internal combustion engine, not by a hybrid system, as we saw earlier in the 5-series station wagon. A lot of camouflage in front of the fascia suggests some major changes, and we would like to believe that BMW will put a larger kidney grille between the smooth headlights. 

Although less dramatic, the subsequent changes will also be significant. The improved rear bumper combined with the new taillights will make the appearance of the advanced station wagon more refined. Changes to the outlet of the exhaust pipe can also be seen, but we cannot confirm whether this is the final shape and size. 

Depending on the market, BMW currently sells a variety of gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines, from Europe's basic 2.0 liter, four-cylinder diesel to the M5 twin turbine V8. Most of these engines will be adjusted to reduce harmful emissions, and the biggest news may be the addition of a new plug-in hybrid option.
