Compare Kirin 985 vs Kirin 980

Huawei presented Kirin 980 at IFA 2018, which took place in August last year. This 7nm chipset debuted on the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. Since then, it has been used by the company to power other flagship smartphones such as the Honor Magic 2, the Honor V20, the Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro. Now this Chinese manufacturer is working on an enhanced version of Kirin 980. That said, a user on Weibo has released the information that the 7nm Kirin 985 arrives later this year and will bring the new Mate 30 to life.

Kirin 985 will ensure higher performance, but not only!

This technology will also allow Huawei to create a 15% smaller chip than the Kirin 980.

However, this chipset will provide 20% more performance than the previous version.

The other manufacturer that will also take advantage of this technology is Apple. However, it will not be quite the same as Huawei's. Because the apple giant, instead of using the N7+ process, will use an even more effective function called N7 Pro.

Mass production of the Kirin 985 will begin in the third quarter of the year. It's in the design phase right now. At this point it is not yet known whether it will support 5G or not.

However, if we look at the rumors that the Mate 30 Pro will support 5G connectivity, it is very likely that this chipset will offer this communication technology.

Meanwhile, this Chinese manufacturer should also announce a successor to the Kirin 710 chipset that gives life to many gamma-media smartphones from Huawei and Honor that were recently released.
