ComputeX 2019: ASUS re-launches Mini-DTX with Crosshair VIII Impact

Another big new ASUS at the conference on motherboards in AMD X570, the small Crosshair VIII Impact. His particuliarity ? Being in Mini-DTX format, which allows it to have a few more things compared to a Mini-ITX format card, while being compatible with Mini-ITX boxes equipped with two PCI brackets. And given the map, there is no doubt that a graphics card will take place on it. On the other hand, this format will tend, logically, to make certain connectors less accessible according to the case, but ASUS thought to put pins at 90 ° which do not exceed the PCB.

In addition to the two fans (yes yes), we can count on an Intel Ethernet chipset and another for WiFi 6, plus a card for two M.2 SSDs in 2280 with a PCI-E or SATA connection. That's the advantage of the format, which allows to have a little more storage. The sound is always entrusted to a SupremeFX S1220 controller, as on the brand's high-end Mini-ITX motherboards.

For the connectivity, nothing seems forgotten for the high end.

The card continues the new design inaugurated with the other X570 models, fan requires for the chipset. Or fans in this case ... An original map so, with a big potential. It remains to be seen if it will find its place in front of a STRIX in Mini-ITX which also seems very complete, and more affordable.
