Whereas Dell's premium family had to choose between performance (XPS 13) and 360-degree hinges (XPS 13 2-in-1) in the past, this will no longer be the case in the future: the 2-in-1 version of the XPS 13 now contains noticeably faster quad-core U-series CPUs instead of the Y-series Core i double cores - and that includes those of the tenth Core i generation (Ice Lake).
Given the thin design, it's not surprising that not only the CPU, but also the RAM and the NVMe SSD are soldered to the motherboard. Concrete equipment variants as well as their prices and availability are not yet available. The XPS 13 2-in-1 fulfills all requirements Intel named for Project Athena.
The larger brother XPS 15 also has an increase in performance, as the maximum configuration now consists of an eight-core core of the new Core-i generation instead of a six-core core of the eighth. The second innovation is the option of an HDR-compatible 4K OLED display that covers the DCI-P3 color space. Alternatively, a 4K-IPS touch screen (AdobeRGB) or a Full HD screen (sRGB) are available. As GPU, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1650 is basically intended.
Depending on the equipment variant, Dell gives the XPS 15 a 56 or a 97 Wh battery; the weight varies between 1.8 and 2 kilograms. Concrete details on prices and availability are still pending. Unlike the 13.3-inch models, the XPS 15 is still only available with a black housing. (mue)
