After Dell has provided its XPS 13 at the beginning of the year in the course of the CES 2919 with some improvements, now the other members of the notebook series are the turn.
The Dell XPS 15 was last updated for CES 2018, this year the US computer manufacturer is using the Computex for a refresh. Like the XPS 13 (9380) introduced at the beginning of the year, the new model gets a new webcam, which is installed above the screen after long criticism. Despite the repositioning of the webcam, Dell has managed to keep the display frame slim thanks to its own cam design: Despite its 15.6-inch screen, it's no bigger than a conventional 14-inch notebook, according to the manufacturer.
The screen offers the user a wider choice, including a 4K OLED display (without touch function) with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, 400 Nits brightness and 100 percent Adobe RGB color space. A 4K display with touch and 500 Nits is also available - but is based on IPS technology. Both models have an anti-reflection coating. The Full HD touch screen model is available from Dell with a matt finish.
Under the hood are Intel's new ninth-generation processors with up to eight cores (Core i9 - i9-9980HK) and up to 64 gigabytes of RAM. Dell offers up to two terabytes of SSD memory. With regard to graphics, the new XPS 15 offers a choice between an Intel UHD Graphics 630 or an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 with four gigabytes of GDDR5 RAM.
Connections include a Thunderbolt 3 port with support for power delivery and display port, two USB C ports (USB 3.1, Ge.1) and also an HDMI 2.0 port on board. In addition, the XPS 15 has an SD card reader. The notebook, which weighs two kilograms and has 97 watt hours, is expected to deliver a battery life of up to 20.5 hours. Bluetooth 5 and the fast Wifi 6 standard are also on board.
The new XPS notebook is expected to cost from 999 US dollars - we will pass on Euro prices and market launch.
