Of course, DJI is cheerfully following the path of unifying its mobile applications. If a few months ago you were lucky enough to have one of the company's last coppers, a smartphone stabilizer and, for example, an Osmo Action action camera, you would have had to install three different applications on your mobile: DJI GO, DJI GO 4 and DJI Mimo. We are in a hurry to calm down: Osmo Mobile 3 supports work with DJI Mimo application, and DJI GO gradually becomes a program for old devices.
Let's briefly review the specifications of Osmo Mobile 3:
Unfolded dimensions:285×125×103 mm;
Folded dimensions: 57×130×46 mm;
Battery capacity 2450 mAh; 15 hours of operation.
Turn: -162.5° to +170.3°;
roll from -85.1° to +252.2°;
inclination from -104.5° to 235.7°;
Maximum controlled speed of 120°/s.
That's what distinguishes the third generation of Osmo Mobile. The new L-shaped three-axis stabilizer was installed instead of a three-section stabilizer from the previous models. And DJI went further in its idea - Osmo Mobile 3 is not just folded up, but fixes all the axes for safe transportation. How it works: we collect the stabilizer, small protrusions get into the corresponding recesses on the hinges and that's all, you don't have to worry that the device in the bag will twist and sensitive motors will break down.
This useful element on the back of the handle allows you to shoot video with great comfort. For example, a triple tap activates the front camera, a double tap activates the smartphone. Press twice and hold to activate the sport mode, and if you hold it down, your smartphone will be locked in one position, no matter what angle you hold the stabilizer at. And to start or stop ActiveTrack 3.0 tracking mode, simply pull the trigger once.
One of the most convenient innovations. You don't need to remove your smartphone from the mount to edit the video or view the footage. Simply fold up Osmo Mobile 3 with your smartphone and press the M Button three times. In this mode, you can use your smartphone and return to shooting at any time.
In addition to mechanical buttons, gestures can also be used to control the shooting. Show the open palm or two V-shaped fingers and the camera will start recording video or take a photo. By the way, it works with both the main camera and the front camera. And you can now navigate through the application menu using the joystick and stabilizer buttons. It's convenient if you're wearing gloves or if your other hand is busy.
The new version of the object tracking mode has also reached Osmo Mobile 3. ActiveTrack 3.0 now works very fast, very smoothly and accurately. And if earlier it was necessary to choose the object of tracking independently, in the new version it is responsible for this automatics: it recognizes human faces and keeps them in the center of the frame. You don't trust the software algorithms? Then use the old-fashioned function by highlighting the object on the screen. By the way, ActiveTrack 3.0 now works not only in video shooting mode, but also during the creation of Hyperlapse and SlowMo movies, as well as during photo shooting.
Double-pressing the M button turns your smartphone upside down by 90 degrees. It now takes just a few seconds to switch from landscape mode to portrait mode. Works even during recording!
Osmo Mobile 3 supports the latest version of the Bluetooth 5.0 wireless standard. This means that the stabilizer will last longer, consume less power and transmit data twice as fast as its predecessor.
Another sign of DJI following the path of modern trends. Almost all modern devices are gradually switching to this standard and in about a couple of years there will be no more gadgets with obsolete microUSB. So you should think about updating your wire collection.
The shape and design of the Osmo Mobile 3 stabilizer expands the range of different camera movements: you can rotate it in different directions or twist it relative to the center of the frame. And the new form of attachment is compatible with large phones or smartphones in a case.
Osmo Mobile 3's list of creative shooting options has been expanded to include the updated sports mode. It can even help you transition from one dynamic scene to another in smooth, cinematic video.
Despite all the innovations and increased dimensions, the weight of Osmo Mobile 3 has become less: 405 grams against 485 grams version of Osmo Mobile 2. Less weight - longer shooting: you won't get tired of holding steadikas even recording a very long video.
As mentioned above, DJI gradually stops using the DJI GO app to manage new devices. DJI Mimo comes to replace it with a lot of different artistic effects and opportunities for creative realization. Osmo Mobile 3 is no exception and also uses this software, which is very pleasing. Why is that? (Laughs) There are at least three reasons
History mode. This section contains many templates for capturing creative movies. In each mode, special stabilizer movements have already been selected, corresponding to the mood of the video melody, different filters and transitions between scenes. Shooting "Stories" is a pleasure. Each template is divided into several parts, and if you don't like the way you shot, for example, the middle of a video, just re-record it or delete it altogether. Then the program will glue all the pieces together into one beautiful video.
