The update of the beta for the Mate 20 line included features such as the ability to activate the Voice Assistant through a long press of the power button, the latest review of Turbo GPU technology and the classic security patches of April 2019. The update was considered stable enough for users, so Huawei has already begun the deployment of the EMUI 9.1 update for the Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X (AL00) officially, without the need to be registered in the betas program.
The Chinese firm announced at the weekend that up to 50 of its mobile phones will be upgraded to EMUI 9.1, based on the fact that the new Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Pro and Huawei P30 Lite already have this version of the operating system in the factory. Among these phones we find the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X and Mate 20 Porsche Design edition that we refer to at the beginning of these lines, but the brand also promises that the software of the Huawei Mate 9 range will soon be received by the software, the Huawei P20 range, the Huawei P10 range, Huawei Nova 4, Huawei Nova 3, Huawei Nova 3i and the Nova 2s.
The update is available for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei Mate 20 Chinese models, although it is expected that sooner or later the same EMUI 9.q update for phones will be distributed internationally.
As for its features, we have a fairly large update package, reaching 4.56 GB, for an update that does not have a new version of Android. What it does include features such as video calls between contacts, optimizations of HiVoice (the Huawei voice assistant) and the third version of performance improvement technology for Huawei and Honor games: GPU Turbo 3.0.
Users are also reporting that it is now possible to disable the AI functions of the camera at the same time that its reaction speed, when activated, is much faster.
