In this category, there is no beating the HOMTOM S9 Plus. The phone sports a large 5.99 inch display with a decent (though not the best) resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The S99 features a slightly smaller screen — 5.5 inches with the same resolution. What makes the S9 Plus stand out is its beautiful bezel-less look: it's a full tri-bezel-less screen with an 18:9 ratio makes the phone practically all-display.
While the S99's screen is only 0.4-inch smaller and features the same resolution, the overall look is not as bezel-less as that of the S9 Plus. With that, the S99 comes with a beautiful spider web print back cover and is available in a range of classic colors: white, grey, black and blue.

Here's where both phones are very similar. Both devices come with the MTK6750T Octa Core 1.5GHz processor and sport 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM — a standard setup for a smooth user experience with no frills. Both phones let you expand the storage further externally and feature Bluetooth 4.0 for efficient connection to other devices and have two SIM cards so that you can conveniently separate work and play.
Both smartphones run on Android but there is a slight difference: the HOMTOM S9 comes with Android 7.0 while the S99 sports the newer Android 8.0, which ensures an even smoother experience and access to all the latest apps on the Play Store.
We move on to S99's key highlight: the battery. The phone sports a massive 6200mAh battery, which is more than enough for using your phone non-stop for up to two days. More than that, it can double as a power bank for your small gadgetry — simply use an OTG cable to charge up other devices from your phone's large capacity battery.
The S9 Plus features a smaller but also powerful 4050mAh battery — which is larger than that of most phones in the similar price range. You can easily stay connected throughout the day without recharging — but you probably won't have the extra juice for other devices.
Both phoned will make good photo companions. The HOMTOM S9 Plus comes with a 13.0MP front camera and a 16.0MP + 5.0MP dual rear camera. The HOMTOM S99 gives you a bit more on the pixel side — a 21.0MP + 2.0MP rear camera and a 13.0MP selfie shooter. So, if you are part of the camera race, going with the HOMTOM S99 will probably be a better option.
Then again, there are the extras. As the company's later model, the S99 comes with one of this year's most popular features — Face Unlock.
As with most gadget comparisons, the final decision usually comes down to the price. But with two HOMTOMs, things are not so easy. The S9 Plus is available on GearBest for $169.99 while the S99 can be yours for $159.99. So... it all comes down to what you are looking for as the difference of just $10 probably won't be a deciding factor. If you are looking for a classic bezel-less phone with a good feature mix, you have the S9 Plus. If you want to try out a more edgy look, Face Unlock and charge your gadgets on the go with a massive battery — you have the S99. Whichever model you go for, you can be sure your chosen device comes with HOMTOM-guaranteed quality.
