Honor is Huawei's brand focusing on the online market. It is taking advantage of the Chinese giant's improvements to integrate them into its smartphones aimed at a younger audience. To reach this audience, Honor relies on aggressive prices with products that position themselves directly as competitors of other manufacturers with the same strategy, such as Xiaomi.
Honor's main product is the so-called "n" range, with reference to the number. After the Honor 10 in 2018, it is therefore expected that an Honor 20 will appear this year, but also, in all likelihood, an Honor 20 Pro.
These Honor 20 and 20 Pro should not deviate from the rule and should therefore be smartphones with features that bring them closer to the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, at a lower price.
A leak in the technical characteristics of the Honor 20 allows us to see that it would lean towards the high-end market and that it would indeed be the flagship of the firm.
● A 6.1-inch OLED display
● A Kirin 980 processor
● 6 to 8 GB of RAM
● Rear camera
Triple sensor on the Honor 20
Quadruple sensor on the Honor 20 Pro
● 32 megapixel front photo sensor
● 128 or 256 GB of internal memory
Features that bring it closer to the Huawei P30 once again, with which it would share the same processor, the same amount of RAM or available internal storage. The smartphone would also integrate Honor's own technologies such as Gaming+ mode, Link Turbo, Turbo GPU or Turbo CPU.
For the Pro version, the features should be the same, with an additional photo sensor and increased manufacturing quality.
According to rumours, the Honor 20 would be quite similar in terms of design to the Huawei P30. A leak on the back of the smartphone shows something almost identical to the design of Huawei's flagship. The differences would be on the brand logo, the absence of the Leica inscription and a slightly different layout of the triple photo module with a lens separate from the other two.
At the screen level, the potential presence of a 6.1 inch OLED panel leaves a question hanging: will the screen be drilled or with a notch? Knowing that only Samsung is now able to break through an OLED display and that the Korean is reserving this technology for his own products for the moment, we can therefore expect a notch.
Huawei has established itself as one of the leaders in "photophones". The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro impressed us with the quality of their shots. Honor therefore wants to take advantage of its proximity to Huawei to enjoy almost irreproachable photo quality.
The Honor 20 is expected to incorporate a triple photo sensor with a 48 megapixel wide-angle lens, a 20 megapixel telephoto lens and an 8 megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
On the Honor 20 Pro side, it would have the same configuration, but with a 4th sensor as a bonus. From there to think that this 4th sensor will be a Time of Flight sensor to improve the portrait mode as on the P30 Pro, there is only one step.
Both smartphones should also benefit from Huawei's software integration and Honor's artificial intelligence. It remains to be seen whether it has been improved since Honor 10, the results of which were sometimes more than risky.
The Honor 20 series announcement will arrive in London on May 21. An image published on social networks showed the British capital and an operation: "444 + 4x4x4 + (4+4)/4 +44/4" or 521.5/21. If we transform the date into our format, we will have the 21/5 or May 21.
As for its price, nothing has yet leaked and it is necessary to base oneself on the price of Honor 10 which, at its release, was 400 euros. To see if the Honor 20 will imitate its predecessor and if the Pro version will be significantly more expensive or not.
See you in London on May 21 to find out everything about this Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro!
