To start, Huawei has promised to deploy the EMUI 10 update on many smartphones in its catalog. Not surprisingly, the manufacturer is seeking to reassure the 120 million EMUI users. Despite the restrictions of the Trump government, the firm is still able to offer regular Android updates. With EMUI 10, the brand hopes to reach the threshold of 150 million user.
"This is not just an update from EMUI 9.1," says Dr. Wang Chenglu, President of the Software Engineering Section at Huawei. The manager thus highlights many aesthetic changes for the interface, a better integration of artificial intelligence (Huawei's spearhead since the Kirin 970 of the Mate 10 Pro), and a more fluid overall operation. In the meantime, Huawei is also adding new icons to his overcoat and new customization options for the Always-On screen.
Here are the some new features of Huawei EMUI 10.
Huawei announces that it has focused on the performance of its OS with a 6% reduction in energy consumption. Engineers focused on the Turbo GPU feature, an option that temporarily boosts the GPU power of your smartphone during a gaming session. According to Huawei, the option is 60% more efficient with EMUI 10. The new overlay also improves the speed of wireless connections by 70%. In addition, with the EROFS file system, already available on EMUI 9.1, Huawei is able to compress applications so that they take up less space. Unfortunately, the option is only compatible with Chinese applications at the moment.
The update also signals the arrival of the dark mode. To ensure an excellent integration of the mode, Huawei worked at length on the adjustment of the lighting level and black colour. At the conference, Dr. Wang Chenglu spoke about the importance of accent color for dark mode. In order to ensure good readability, Huawei has opted for blue. The dark mode also automatically adapts to third-party applications you download from the Google Play Store, such as the native dark mode of Android 10 Q.
Another announced feature of EMUI 10 is the multi-screen support. This is supposed to work similar to the "Link to Windows" feature of Galaxy Note 10, which means that you can view and edit content from your Huawei smartphone on a PC. The following video will give you a foretaste.
The manufacturer has emphasized continuity. In particular, it is possible to take a call via your MateBook, your Watch GT or directly via a drone. It is also possible to display a mobile application on the watch or PC or to transfer a document from your smartphone to your computer with a single slide. Like Apple, Huawei seeks to build a complete ecosystem. Not surprisingly, EMUI 10 will also be compatible with devices equipped with HarmonyOS, Huawei's Android alternative.
The update will be available in beta on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro from September 8, 2019. Soon after, the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 RS and Mate 20 X will be able to install the beta version. The manufacturer has not provided a date for the deployment of the final version of EMUI 10. Last I heard, 17 Huawei/Honor smartphones will be able to install Android 10 Q with EMUI 10 despite US restrictions. At the conference, the firm simply presented the models that will benefit most from it.
