Huawei FreeBuds 3 review: - Is it really worth paying so much?

When it comes to Huawei FreeBuds 3, I must say that Huawei always does a great job in this field, the headset has powerful noise cancellation, support for Bluetooth 5.1 and above all the presence of the Kirin A1 chipset. Now let’s look at the performance of Huawei FreeBuds 3 together, and is it really worth paying so much?

Huawei FreeBuds 3: Design

Before moving on to the more technical part itself, let's look at the design of  Huawei FreeBuds 3 in an unboxing way.

 Huawei FreeBuds 3

Soon the departure the card box reveals that we are facing something premium. Great care is taken in its elaboration and in the way everything is presented. In other words, it makes us think that whatever is inside must be something really good.

Inside this box we find the circular charging box and inside it the earphones.

We also have a Type-C USB charging cable which is always good, especially since the one that comes with it is of a good length. I say this because I've already picked up charging cables that are really small.

The version that came to us is white and I have to say that the earphones really look premium.

However, this premium air is not just about headphones. It is that it is also present in the loading box. It's very comfortable in the hand and the silver logo of Huawei is killing.

Looking at the earpieces themselves, many people are used to having silicone rubbers around them to ensure a better grip on the ear and even to isolate sound more effectively.

However, this bet from Huawei, like other headphones from this manufacturer, has none of that. For those who are religiously used to wearing this type of headset can be strange. Still, by the way they fit our ears, you will quickly realize that there is no need for more rubber.

Huawei FreeBuds 3 reveal a high build quality. In fact, everything looks perfectly designed and built. Even though it is an accessory that costs 200 Euros, this will not be surprising.

These devices are mostly plastic, although there is still a metal part at the bottom where the microphone is located.

On the front is the touch-sensitive part to control the audio and even an LED indicator, but I'll talk about it later.

That is, they are splash proof and water resistant. Notice what I said, sturdy and not waterproof so don't think about using them inside the pool. Believe that some have tried it with previous versions.

The carry and carry bag also has a polished and attractive design.

The lid opens and closes easily and is even easier to do so thanks to the use of magnets that keep it tightly closed.

At the bottom of the charging system is a Type-C USB port. Those who don't want to use it still have wireless charging.

Huawei FreeBuds 3: Very Easy to Pair

Pairing these headsets with any device costs nothing. Of course if we have a Huawei smartphone with EMUI 10 it is even easier, thanks to a popup that appears on the screen. However, even those who do not have it will find that it is just like pairing our smartphone with a Bluetooth speaker or any other device.

Once paired, you may want to install the Huawei Ai Life app through the Play Store. This is either a Huawei smartphone or any other brand. True, it is not essential for the headset to function. Still, it is important to control the settings through the touch panel that is built into the earphones. We can even customize these forms of control ourselves. It is also possible to set the noise reduction level and most importantly, we go hand in hand with updates.

Right from the start we already have definite gestures. Tapping the left headset twice can turn noise reduction on or off. On the right side we can put the music playing or paused, answer or hang up a call.

Huawei FreeBuds 3: Bluetooth 5.1

Another great advantage of Huawei FreeBuds 3 is the use of Bluetooth 5.1 technology.

This wireless connection ensures a better transmission signal up to a distance of 10 meters without any interference.

Now we come to the most important aspect of any headset. The sound. It's that features help sell, but in the end it's the sound quality that counts.

Much due to the design and presence of the Kirin A1 chipset, Huawei's new headsets really do sound good.

Something that surprises you right away is the clean sound. It really looks perfect. However, we get the feeling that the basses get a little lost.

The same is not true of the mid and high frequencies, where everything is very well defined.

At the level of audio volume we never get to the point where sound can bother us. That is, even at full volume, the music will never be so loud. This is excellent news for our ears, indeed for their health. However, those who literally like to hear loud music or have some hearing impairment may feel that they would like a little more.

Huawei FreeBuds 3: Noise cancellation

At the conversation level, the microphone works very well.

One of the best features of these headsets is active noise cancellation. As Huawei says, it provides precise reduction of ambient noise that is optimized in real time by capturing and canceling background noise as it changes. It doesn't matter if you are in the Metro or in a noisy restaurant.

In fact, and as I was able to prove, the noise cancellation system really works. Still, if the noise is really loud, there is not much that these headsets can do.

Although this system works automatically through the microphone that analyzes ambient sound, it can also be controlled manually.

Although we carry the loading and transport box always with us. At times, even it runs out of power and as such autonomy is very important in wireless headsets.

Huawei FreeBuds 3

The Huawei FreeBuds 3 comes with a 30mAh battery that provides a charge for 3 hours and low usage, with noise-canceling enabled. Not too much but in my view what weighs in this were the many technologies that Huawei has implemented in this device and the chipset itself.

The design of both the headset and the carry and carry case is premium. That is, it looks like something really well built.

In terms of sound quality, I really liked the clarity of the audio, although I enjoyed stronger bass. What could also be a bit better is the battery life. Of course, as I mentioned, with so many technologies integrated, it's not easy. Still, considering there are models on the market that go for around 8 hours, something in the middle like 6 hours would be even better.

Huawei FreeBuds 3

Noise cancellation works really well. I put it in automatic mode and did not need to switch to manual at any time. However, if you are in a place where there is not so much noise around you and want to save battery power it is a good idea to turn off noise canceling. The sound they are hearing seems to get even better.

Another detail I also liked was the ability to define gestures and functions through the Huawei app.

Another thing that really pleased me was the ability to power the charging box via a USB Type-C cable and also wirelessly. For this we can use a standard wireless charger or have our smartphone power it.

True, these are not the cheapest headsets in the world. However, this is exactly what happens with battery life. With so many integrated features and technologies there are no miracles. So if you ask me if I recommend Huawei FreeBuds 3, it's not the price or the autonomy that will make me say no. Yes, I do, because it has all the elements that a great headset should have. They are beautiful, have a clear and crystal clear sound, use Bluetooth 5.1, have noise canceling and can be charged in different ways. For our part takes an excellent.
