The Kirin processor family is the in-house smartphone chip, so to speak, which is the heart of many Huawei devices. With the Kirin 985, a new member of the SoC family is expected for the third quarter of 2019. Although the Kirin 985 will continue to be manufactured in the 7-nanometer process, there is now information that points to an optimization of this manufacturing process. In concrete terms, the so-called EUV technology is intended to increase the transistor density on the 985 processor by up to 20 percent compared with the conventional 7-NM method.
This means that even if nothing were to change in the chip architecture, more power would still be available - just like in a car, where turbocharger technology can help to get more power out of engines.
The successor to the Mate 20 is expected to be launched towards the end of the year. A few weeks ago, rumors began to spread that the Mate 30 contained five cameras. At least a Huawei patent indicates this.
