Let’s compare the main specs of the two folding screen smartphones side by side.
Galaxy Fold has a small screen outside and a large screen inside, while Mate X uses an external screen in three different ways. It will deform according to the way you hold the device. Samsung's mobile phone is equipped with a 4G or 5G network and six cameras. Mate X has four cameras (rear three-camera design) and 5G. Galaxy Fold's hinges will not be fully flattened, which is where Huawei has demonstrated its strength.
Huawei Mate X and Samsung Galaxy Fold have different folding schemes, among which Galaxy Fold takes the form of a book, with its largest screen inside and protected by an external "cover". Samsung also has a small screen on one of its "covers" for daily use.
Huawei took the opposite approach, with the screen next to the frame. The advantage is that a screen can be used like three screens, depending on the way you hold the phone.
Samsung Galaxy Fold adopts a notch design to house the two cameras and a sensor on its 7.3-inch screen. While there is no notch on the Huawei Mate X's 8-inch display. Its’ cameras are placed on a long strip designed on the back.
Galaxy Fold has six cameras: three in the back, two in the front and one on the cover. Huawei Mate X has four cameras, and according to Yu Chengdong, Huawei Mate X adopts the camera of the upcoming Huawei P30 series smartphones, so its camera performance cannot be underestimated.
Huawei Mate X supports dual SIM card dual standby and they support 4G and 5G respectively, which makes it more flexible. At the same time, it also supports NSA/SA network, so you don’t need to change your smartphone when operators switch to the SA network. While the Samsung Galaxy Fold does not support dual SIM cards and dual standby, but it also supports 5G network.
Presently, there are no budget folding screen smartphones. If you want to buy Samsung Galaxy Fold or Huawei Mate X, you have to spend at least more than $1000. The Samsung Galaxy Fold sells for $1980, and it will be available in some parts of US market on April 26. While the HUawei Mate X comes with a steeper price of 2,299 EUR (about $2611), and it will start to sell in June or July.
