And although it doesn't matter to the end user at all, because performance is important in terms of price, before the next generation of Intel processors was released, they were really faster in many scenarios.
However, the Zen 2 architecture has provided the latest AMD CPU with an impressive increase in the number of executable instructions per cycle. Specialists from the source decided to check whether the latest AMD CPUs can be used with the latest Intel CPUs if the difference in the number of cores and frequencies is removed. To do this, several processors were taken and their frequencies were blocked at the 4 GHz level for all cores, and all kinds of auto-acceleration features were disabled.
The Core i9-9900K, Ryzen 9 3900X, Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 7 1700X participated in the test. As you can see, all processors are eight-core except AMD flagship. But it participated not simply so. It was disabled with four of the twelve cores disabled, so that each of the two chiplets contained four active cores. This allows us to compare the efficiency of the bus through which the processor crystals are connected.
The test results can be seen below.
As you can see, the Ryzen 7 2700X often slightly bypasses the Ryzen 7 1700X, which indicates architectural improvements in Zen+. The Core i9-9900K is always faster than previous generations of AMD solutions. However, it is always slower than the latest Ryzen processors, and sometimes very noticeable. For example, in the multithreaded test of Cinebench R20 the novelties are ahead of the Intel flagship by about 14%.
Thus, we can say that the new AMD processors are no longer inferior, but superior to Intel processors in performance on the core at equal frequencies.
The situation in games is a bit different.
As you can see, the Core i9-9900K is almost everywhere and always faster than even the latest AMD CPUs, although the gap is small. What's impressive is the difference between the new Ryzen processors and the solutions of previous generations, though again, not everywhere.
