Apple will launch iOS 13 sometime in the second half of 2019, possibly in September. But as we approach the date we know more about its compatibility, the functions it will have and how it tries to convince users to update.
According to the most reliable information, before launching iOS 12 in September 2018, Apple decided to leave most of the novelties and visual changes for iOS 13. Therefore, iOS 12 was an update focused on improving performance and leaving drastic changes for iOS 13. Heeding this information, iOS 13 will blow our heads off (just like Tim Cook described his upcoming products).
The rumors about the 13 have been scarce, but there is some information that advances some of the news. In addition, we can deduce around what date this new mobile operating system would be launched for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
From iOS 6 to iOS 12, all new releases have been launched in September — iOS 12 was launched on September 10, for example. That is why it is feasible to deduce that iOS 13 will be launched in that same month (and therefore we can also expect a launch of new iPhone for neighboring days).
But we do not confuse the release date with the ad date.
Apple could announce (or present) iOS 13 before September, specifically in June as part of its annual WWDC developer event. Apple, faithful to its custom, takes advantage of this event to present the new features that will have the rest of its operating systems — tvOS, watchOS and macOS — in addition to iOS.
From WWDC, Apple may release a private beta of iOS 13 for developers; Days or a couple of weeks later he would launch the public beta. Apple usually throws four to seven betas before launching the final version that is recommended and reaches all users in September (tentatively).
Rumors also do not mention the compatibility of iOS 13 with the phones, tablets and current players, but it may be the same list of iOS 12 (adding new models that Apple could launch this year, as the iPhone 11 and at least two new iPad low Cost).
This is the iOS 12 compatibility List supplemented with the products that are expected for this year. The products in this list highlighted in bold are phones and tablets that are expected for this year, but have not been confirmed by Apple:
● iPhone 11 & iPhone 11 Plus
● iPhone XR 2
● iPhone X
● iPad Pro de 11 pulgadas
● iPad Pro de 12.9 pulgadas de tercera generación
● iPad Pro 12.9 pulgadas de segunda generación
● iPad Pro de 12.9 pulgadas de primera generación
● iPad Pro de 10.5 pulgadas
● iPad Air
● iPad Air (2019)
● iPad de sexta generación
● iPad de quinta generación
● iPad mini (2019)
As we said, there is still not much information about iOS 13 and what will be new, although they are expected to be quite substantial.
What is already known about iOS 13, thanks to a report from Bloomberg, is that will have the expected Dark Mode to obscure most of the interface as native applications — music, notes, Safari, among others — and menus. A darkened interface not only helps to improve visibility in the dark (such as at sunrise or go to sleep in a darkroom), but in OLED screens it helps to slow down energy consumption.
According to the same Bloomberg report, Apple is working on a new interface for the iPad in which the behavior of the main screen will be modified, although it is not known how the new design will be or what type of functionality it will have. Apple would also launch a better File manager and allow to have multiple tabs of the same app. iOS 13 would also have a new version of Play, the iOS interface for cars.
A 9to5Mac report, published in April, will have new gestures to increase productivity — such as multi-tasking and other actions. iOS 13 would also provide iPad compatibility with external keyboards and mice, according to other reports.
On Tuesday 28 May the site 9to5Mac published the first screenshots of iOS 13 prior to its release. The images on the site show Dark mode running with the Apple Music app; They show the new Find My application that will replace Find my friends and Find My iPhone. Filtering also shows other light changes to the interface as new features for fast-editing screen shots.
