Mi True Wireless Earphones: Xiaomi’s AirPods Unboxing & Review

ByIngrid You 2019-06-13 1724

In conjunction with the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi Band 4, the Chinese manufacturer has decided to release the Mi True Wireless Earphones in France. These AirPod competitors also want to be good for 100 euros less expensive. Our first impressions do not necessarily confirm this.

When trying to dominate the smartphone, as with the Xiaomi Mi 9T, or the connected bracelets, as with the Mi Band 4, what else remains to be won? If we follow the example of the manufacturers in the smartphone market, we will naturally say audio.

The gradual disappearance of the port jack, pushed by manufacturers more than by consumers, is pushing for renewal. And in the face of this, totally wireless headphones are always more popular, with AirPods in the lead. Xiaomi will also try to capture a share of this lucrative market in France by releasing True Wireless Earphones.

Mi True Wireless Earphones

Very fake AirPods tunes

At first glance, you might think that Xiaomi's True Wireless Earphones are comparable to Apple's AirPods. It must be said that their small rounded box and their white design are terribly connoted.

In the end, this is really not the case. When you take them in hand, you feel the 100 euros difference between the two, since Xiaomi's Earphones do not have the same finishes. Far from it: the box and the headphones themselves are much thicker, and the very elongated "iPhone style" headphones only accentuate this impression.

Too thick? It will be a matter of taste, but they are enough to look like Chinese counterfeit goods that are not necessarily well made. At least the case, which promises to provide a total of 10 hours of autonomy for the headphones, has a USB type C port for charging. It should also be noted that this is an in-ear design, theoretically more efficient, particularly for stopping ambient noise.

We haven't been able to judge the comfort of use yet (I love you very much, but it would have been really disgusting) or even test the sound quality. It is on these two points that True Wireless Earphones could stand out, but for this first impression... it doesn't seem famous, we won't lie to each other.
