According to Ubergizmo, Microsoft has very low-key updates to the system requirements for office mobile applications. Of course, it is not surprising that this is to ensure that users get the best application experience, but not so "friendly" to outdated devices. Update system requirements mention that multiple Office applications will stop running on KitKat and Lollipop devices. These Office apps will continue to use devices powered by older operating systems until June, and will no longer be supported starting in July. If you are a serious user of the Office mobile app, make sure you are not using an older Android device. Of course, if you don't want to change your device, look for an office software application that is compatible with the KitKat or Lollipop version.
The Office Mobile application system requires an update support page to indicate that starting from July 1st, only the latest four major Android versions will be supported. It includes Android Pie (Android 9), Android Oreo (Android 8.0), Android Nougat (Android 7.0) and Android Marshmallow (Android 6.0). Currently Android Q is still in beta.
According to the latest Android usage statistics released by Google, Android version 4.4 (KitKat) and Android 5.0 (Lollipop) device share accounted for 21.4%, which means that many users will be affected. Users need to upgrade their equipment system or switch to a new one.
