One of the most interesting 15-inch laptops got even better during the fair in Taipei. Dell is giving its latest generation Dell XPS 15 (7590) a new 4K display option, as other manufacturers have already done in 2019. The special feature here is that it is an OLED display, which should offer better contrasts by excellent black values, a better color fidelity as well as a higher efficiency. With a brightness of up to 400 nits according to the manufacturer, it should nevertheless be extraordinarily bright. However, the new 4K OLED option in the Dell XPS 15 (7590) doesn't offer a touch screen.
The existing 4K LCD option is therefore fortunately not discontinued and is still available. The 4K panel with IPS technology offers touch support and an impressive brightness of up to 500 nits.
Basically, the design of the Dell XPS 15 doesn't change significantly compared to its predecessor, but there's one important change. As with the new Dell XPS 13, the manufacturer has moved the camera back up again, while keeping the edge around the display minimal. Dell already built an extraordinarily small camera unit for this purpose in the XPS 13, which is supposed to fulfill this purpose.
At the heart of the new Dell XPS 15 are the latest 9th generation Intel Core CPUs, which offer options ranging from the Intel Core i5-9300H to the Intel Core i9-9980HK.
Instead of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti, the Dell XPS 15 will in future feature a GTX 1650, which should offer an overall increase in graphics performance of up to 30 percent. Thus, the slim 15-inch notebook will be even more suitable for demanding graphic tasks in the future.
Depending on the configuration, Dell offers a battery capacity of 56 or 97 watt hours, whereby in the latter version a runtime of up to 20 hours should be possible. DDR4 RAM is installed with configuration options up to 64 gigabytes and there is a maximum of 2 TB of PCIe NVMe memory.
