In 2018, Apple unveiled three new smartphones. The iPhone XS is the direct successor to the anniversary iPhone iPhone X. Apple still set aside the 5.8-inch iPhone XS with 6.5-inch measuring screen. Both top smartphones feature an OLED display. Then there was slightly delayed even the cheaper iPhone XR with LCD instead of OLED panel. All three smartphones are consistent advancements or variations of the iPhone X. In 2019, it will be time for Apple to venture more again. Learn what we already know about the iPhone XI, which is likely to come in the fall of 2019. This article is constantly updated.
This question about the date of publication is relatively easy to answer with regard to the past. Because in beautiful regularity, Apple introduces its new top smartphones on a big keynote in September. Apple also likes to choose a Tuesday or Wednesday and avoids the historically pre-loaded date of September 11.
iPhone 5: Keynote on September 12, 2012
iPhone 5S/iPhone 5C: Keynote on September 10, 2013
iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus: Keynote on September 9, 2014
iPhone 6S/iPhone 6S Plus: Keynote on September 9, 2015
iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus: Keynote on September 7, 2016
iPhone 8/iPhone 8 Plus/iPhone X: Keynote on September 12, 2017
iPhone XS/iPhone XS Max/iPhone XR: September 12, 2018
iPhone 2019 release: September 10?
At the MWC 2019, the so-called foldables were on everyone's lips. Manufacturers such as Samsung (Galaxy Fold) and Huawei (Mate X) presented corresponding devices with foldable display. Both smartphones will still hit the market in 2019, costing more than 2,000 euros.
Speculation has been promptly raised that Apple, too, will release an iPhone with a foldable or bendy display as early as 2019. The rumors are based on a report. Samsung's display division has therefore designed touchscreens exclusively for Apple. As of today, however, the upcoming iPhone will not yet have a bendy display.
Insiders and analysts currently expect Apple to maintain sizes introduced in 2018. Expects, therefore, that there will again be a model with 5.8 inches, one with 6.1 inches and one with 6.5 inches large touchscreen. The "iPhone XI Max" is said to feature a ProMotion display with 120 Hertz, known by the iPad Pro. There is also a strong case that, contrary to the trend, Apple will stick to an LCD display, at least with the iPhone XR successor for cost reasons.
The resolution will probably remain the same. However, the housing size could shrink again. Reports of new sensors from Austria, which could lead to a reduction in the notch and the screen edges, are already doing the rounds.
After dual comes Triple-there's a lot currently to suggest Apple will donate a triple camera to the iPhone 11 on the back. Corresponding models, such as from Huawei, already exist. And an "iPhone XI Max" with triple optical zoom doesn't sound bad to our ears either. Perhaps Apple is using the generational change to differentiate the large Max model from the smaller version. In any case, the manufacturer still proceeded with the plus variants. The Wall Street Journal also wants to learn from a secure source that the top model of the 2015-issued iPhones will feature a triple camera.
The rumor age regarding the arrangement of the camera modules on the back is unclear. Many draw a picture of three parallel camera lenses. Again and again, however, pictures of rectangular placed cameras also appear, which do not resonate so much with many fans. Leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, for example, dropped a tweet as early as early January 2019 talking about a quadrangular arrangement. And that leak has been confirmed time and time again throughout the year.
Apple is also certain to revise the front camera, including the TrueDepth system, for Face ID. We are talking about an increase in the resolution from seven to ten megapixels. On the one hand, we expect a smaller notch and hope that Apple will improve Face ID so that the system recognizes the user face even when you hold the iPhone across your face. With the current iPad Pro generation, for example, this is already possible.
You don't have to be a prophet to predict that Apple will donate a new processor to the upcoming iPhone 2019 generation. After which the A12 is installed in the iPhone XS (Max) and iPhone XR, the A13 SoC will surely follow in the "iPhone XI." The chip is to be manufactured by TSMC using a 7-nanometer process, according to rumors from the supplier industry.
It's an open secret that Apple dreams of an eal-smooth iPhone with no buttons and no connectors. Gradually, the iPhones first lost the headphone jack (iPhone 7) and finally the home button (iPhone X). Next, US magazine MacRumors suspects, the Lightning connector could fall away.
This would mean that the new iPhone would only be rechargeable via wireless charging and that all file transfers would be held by radio instead. We don't believe Apple is planning this radical move as early as 2019. However, the switch from Lightning port to the USB Type C port cannot be ruled out. The manufacturer has already completed this in the iPad Pro. According to a report from China, Apple should add the iPad Pro power supply with 18 watts to the new iPhone, but stick to the Lightning connector for the time being. The new iPad Air and iPad Mini models unveiled in March are also still charging via Lighting.
A new iPhone generation doesn't necessarily have higher battery capacity. That's what the jump from the iPhone X to the iPhone XS, for example, has shown. Still, rumors are making the rounds that the big iPhone XS Max successor has a battery capacity of 4,000 milliamperes. In addition, the charging is to be shortened by wireless charging. Instead of 7.5 watts, the new iPhone generation is supposed to charge wirelessly at 15 watts.
Like Huawei's Mate 20 Pro, the iPhone is also expected to support the so-called reverse wireless charging in 2019. Compatible devices are easy to hold and load to the Apple smartphone without having to connect a cable. The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wants to have learned that the new.
One of the driving forces driving the 5G standard is chip maker Qualcomm, with which Apple has been pursuing a bitter legal battle since 2018. Quite a few insiders expect no iPhone 2019 model to support the 5G standard. This is also the opinion of the Indian magazine CompareRaja, which has recently been responsible for some leaks in collaboration with Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks).
Apple has been critical of pricing the current iPhone generation. The iPhone XS and especially the iPhone XS Max loosely tear the 1,000 euro limit and can't be found underneath even in the smallest memory version. That's rumored to remain the case with the iPhone 2019 generation. As a result, Apple will not raise or lower prices. So reckon with a more or less stable price level in 2019.
Apple has yet to set aside a successor to the iPhone SE unveiled in 2016. Thus, fans of the compact model wait for a corresponding sign of life for every keynote. In the course of the presentation of the iPhone XS (Max), there was only the iPhone XR. According to a report from India seeking Foxconn-affiliated sources, it says it is expected to reach this far at the end of 2019. The suspected 4.8-inch smartphone is said to be listening to the name iPhone XE.
