Nubia's Red Magic 3 is designed to be even more suitable for mobile gaming thanks to forward-facing speakers, touch shoulder buttons and active cooling. In addition to a heat pipe, the smartphone also has a built-in fan.

Chinese manufacturer Nubia has unveiled its new Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone. The device is the successor to the Red Magic Mars, which the company presented at CES 2019. The Red Magic 3 is also aimed primarily at users who want to play on their smartphone on the go.

The smartphone has added some extras for this: This allows users to place screen buttons on a gamepad using a mapping tool. Play them on the 6.65-inch Full HD Plus screen, you can also use two sensor shoulder buttons in addition to the on-screen controls. These are installed at the top when the smartphone is held crosswise.

The Red Magic Mars also has an additional switch that can be used to activate a game mode. This opens the Red Magic Game Space 2.0, a dashboard that allows users to load games or change system settings, among other things.

For example, notifications can be blocked or a screen recording started. Also, the speed of the built-in fan can be adjusted: The Red Magic 3 has a fan in addition to a heat pipe designed to cool Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC with Adrine 640 graphics unit.

The battery of the smartphone has a nominal charge of 5,000 mAh, details of the runtime is not provided by the manufacturer. Thanks to a 30-watt power supply, the battery should be charged very quickly: Ten minutes of charging time should be sufficient for one hour of gaming. The smartphone comes with Android 9.

Front speakers and RGB lighting

The Red Magic 3 has forward-facing stereo speakers designed to provide good 3D sound even without headphones. The smartphone is said to be available in three storage configurations: Either with 128 GByte of flash memory and 6 or 8 GByte of memory, or with 256 GByte of flash memory and 12 GByte of memory. On the back is a 48-megapixel camera with Sony sensor built in, as is RGB lighting.

The Red Magic 3 is expected to be available in China from 3 May 2019 and also in Europe in May this year. Nubia has not yet mentioned a price-the predecessor Red Magic Mars was relatively cheap, but has never officially entered Germany despite the announcement to the contrary from the manufacturer.
