OnePlus 7T vs Xiaomi Mi 9, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Huawei Mate 30: compare the top smartphones

BySigismondo Eisenhower 2019-09-27 1023

The new OnePlus 7T is released on September 26, 2019, in Indian as the schedule. Just six months have passed since OnePlus presented OnePlus 7, the OnePlus 7T face its main competition in the high range of Android: Xiaomi Mi 9, Huawei Mate 30, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Samsung Galaxy S10, Sony Xperia 1 and OPPO Reno 10x.

Screens and notch

One of the main changes of the OnePlus 7T with respect to its predecessor is the growth of the diagonal of the screen, which goes from 6.41 inches to 6.55, with a little more resolution and a notch a little smaller.

While a few years ago we would have our hands on our heads with the idea of a 6.55-inch screen, the truth is that it is not even the largest of our comparison. Almost, but OPPO Reno Zoom 10X and Huawei Mate 30 get the honor, with their 6.6-inch screens. Of course, there's nothing below six inches, although the closest is the Samsung Galaxy S10 with its 6.1 inches.

Speaking of screens, OnePlus is still the only one that bets on increasing the refreshment of the same screen, with the same 90 Hz of the previous generation. It seems that, at least until the Google Pixel 4 arrives, the additional refreshment continues being an exclusive thing of the mobiles for gamers... or OnePlus.

As for the front camera, there is a bit of everything. The OnePlus 7 and the Xiaomi Mi 9 mount it in a notch of reduced size, the Huawei Mate 30 has a notch a little thicker, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and S10 incorporate it in a hole in the screen, OPPO Reno 10x has a retractable mechanism and Sony includes it in the frame.

Triple rear cameras

The OnePlus 7T has grown a lens with respect to the May version, and that makes it possible for it to stay in the photographic competition in a market where any neighbor's son already has three lenses and a handful of megapixels. That is now also the OnePlus 7T, with a 48 MP + 16 MP + 8 MP rear camera.

It's not an unusual combination and, in fact, it's relatively similar to the rest of mobiles Made in China: Xiaomi Mi 9 (48 + 16 + 12 MP), Huawei Mate 30 (40 + 16 + 8 MP + ToF) and OPPO Reno 10x (48 MP + 13 + 8 MP). Samsung bets on fewer megapixels and variable aperture, while Sony simplifies the offer with three 12 MP sensors.

It's not the megapixels, it's how you use them, and the truth is that the high-end is increasingly versatile in the photographic field. The OnePlus 7 is no exception, with wide-angle, macro and 2x telephoto lenses. Again, it is not something totally unusual and the truth is that most mobiles have a similar offer.

As for the front camera, OnePlus has maintained that of the previous generation, 16 megapixels and f/2.0 aperture. It will have to be seen in operation, although on paper Huawei Mate 30 and Xiaomi Mi 9 should offer a better result with their 24 and 20 MP respectively.

Power, battery and fast charging

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 855+ to us in July, and so far only a handful of terminals have included this overclocked version of the top-of-the-range processor par excellence. The OnePlus 7T is one of them, thus having a strategic advantage over those based on Snapdragon 855: the same lithography, but with slightly lower clock speed.

Technically the Kirin 990 of the Huawei Mate 30 works at higher clock speed, so it would not be fair to say that the OnePlus 7T is the most powerful of them all, although it is undoubtedly in the Top 3, along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 with Exynos 9825.

In terms of batteries, the 3,800 mAh capacity of the OnePlus 7T is on average, being surpassed only by the 4,200 mAh of the Huawei Mate 30 and the 4,065 mAh of the OPPO Reno Zoom 10x. The Xiaomi Mi 9 goes free with its 3,000 mAh.

While the 30W fast charge of the OnePlus 7T is a source of pride, as only the 40W of the Huawei Mate 30 surpasses it, OnePlus still does not include wireless charging in its terminal, while it is slowly spreading through the high end. It is present in all but the OnePlus 7T, Sony Xperia 1 and OPPO Reno Zoom 10x.
