New UI performance

Buster made some changes to the UI performance (mainly because many users said they didn't feel any difference in the transition from Jessie to Stretch) and adopted a simplified design style for the user interface. The window bar is reduced in size and the flattened design is added to make the whole thing clearer and more modern.

Thonny Python development environment

Thonny Python was integrated as development environment in Raspbian, in Buster this became the standard development environment. The previous IDLE was removed due to the unpleasant experience. It is strongly recommended to try Thonny Python.

The taskbar became more meaningful. For Bluetooth versions that do not support Bluetooth, the Bluetooth icon disappears. CPU usage is no longer displayed in the taskbar because performance seems to be sufficient and you don't need to pay too much attention to this data. A new CPU temperature monitor has been added and must be added manually.

Configuration element for the OpenGL driver. It can be configured using Advanced Options in the rasps-config command.

How to install Buster

It is recommended to fully install Buster, and it is not recommended to upgrade from existing stretch versions (and earlier versions) to Buster. If you need to do this, first make a backup copy and make sure your system has been updated to the latest version of Stretch.

1. modify the files /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list

Change stretch to buster.

2.execute the following command in the terminal.

● sudo apt update

● sudo apt dist-upgrade

3.select "Yes" for each prompt. Depending on the speed of the network, the update will take half an hour to several hours. Restart the system when you are done.

4.After recalling the main menu, open the "Display settings" option, select "Default settings" and click on the "Default settings" button suitable for your screen size. This will load the new UI theme.

5.Execute the command to uninstall some of the unused software and configuration files

● sudo apt purge timidity lxmusic gnome-disk-utility deluge-gtk evince wicd wicd-gtk clipit usermode gucharmap gnome-system-tools pavucontrol
