With a Snapdragon 855, the Redmi Pro 2 is also said to have installed the fastest processor on the market. The high-end CPU had already been announced by Redmi CEO Lu Weibing for an upcoming Redmi smartphone at the beginning of the year. One wants to emerge slowly but surely from the shadow of Xiaomi and the Redmi Pro 2 seems to become a real high-end smartphone. Xiaomi wants to significantly increase its own MI flagships in price over the next few years and leave the award-winning devices to the newly created subbrands Redmi and Poco. The Xiaomi basic concept of offering a lot of hardware for a very fair price will probably only be available with the sub-brands. But this is all still a dream for the future, because the current Xiaomi Mi9 is available at an absolute combat price of €45050 and mercilessly underperforms the prices of the competition.
With the leak of the Redmi Pro 2, the new Redmi brand wants to regain attention. Mid-class devices like the Redmi Note 7 or low-budget devices like a Redmi 7 never generate as much attention as real high-end smartphones, even if they are eventually purchased more frequently. Once a pop-up camera or a Snapdragon 855 are in play, an automatic news wave is to be expected and that's exactly what REDMI has done here again.
In my opinion, we can expect the new Redmi 2 Pro as early as June-July. Whether the pop-up camera and processor will come true is written on a different sheet. Until now, Xiaomi only dared to go public with a slider smartphone. Pop-Up cameras were on display at biggest competitor BBK Electronics, with the Vivo Nex and the Oppo Find X.
Even the new holes in the display (Punch-Hole Notch) are not a satisfactory solution. At the end of the day, you just want a nice display and if necessary, the camera will drive out of the frame. A great concept that could work with the Redmi Pro 2 at a probably fair price. Redmi will still still have to access 400-500 for the device, because the Snapdragon 855 alone is anything but cheap. What do you think of the first leaks to the Redmi Pro 2? Will Xiaomi let the pop-up experiment be done by the new Sub-brand Redmi?
