The Roborock S6 can be operated using the buttons on the top. It is much more practical, however, to use the associated Xiaomi Mi Home app for the control. During the first complete cleaning, the Roborock S6 misses the rooms by laser, creating a map of the entire apartment with individual rooms. As a result, the robotic vacuum cleaner "knows" the apartment, so that it is possible to clean individual rooms from this point onwards. For the wiping function, which brings water from the water tank to the floor, it is also helpful that you can use the app to define individual zones, so you can exclude areas in which a carpet is located, from the cleaning. Although the robot also has a carpet detection that automatically increases the suction power, the wiping function remains active there as well.

The app also has a status indicator for pending maintenance for filters, side brush, main brush, filter element and sensors. The graphic illustration helps to find the elements to be maintained. There is also a remote control function that allows you to manually control the robot. However, this only works if vacuum robot and smartphone are in the same network. You can not use this feature while on the move. But the start of a cleaning can be started comfortably from the office.

Suction power of the Roborock S6

For a thorough cleaning, the Roborock S6 or another robotic vacuum cleaner is not enough. Not all obstacles, such as doors, can be cleared out of the way, so you still have to use a traditional vacuum cleaner for a thorough cleaning. In addition, the Roborock S6 cleans despite improved algorithms no faster than a human with a conventional vacuum cleaner model. A 75 square meter apartment with a suction area of ​​45 square meters requires the Roborock about an hour. With a conventional vacuum cleaner, cleaning by a human takes about 20 minutes.

However, this does not mean that a robotic vacuum cleaner is basically just a gimmick for technology-loving users. On the contrary: The Roborock S6 makes a meaningful contribution to significantly shorten the cleaning of a dwelling by humans with a standard vacuum cleaner. And that's exactly what these types of devices have been developed for.
