Through the specs comparison and Qualcomm official introduction, we conclude that the new Snapdragon 765(G) processor offers 5 main upgrades.

Upgrade 1. 5G network support

One of the great improvements of the Snapdragon 765(G) is that it is Qualcomm’s first mid-range processor to support 5G network.

The 5G network on the Snapdragon 765(G) is achieved via the integrated 5G modem Snapdragon X52, which gives it the most complete 5G connection capability under the current 3GPP definition. The new Snapdragon 765(G) is an Octa-core processor made with Samsung’s 7nm EUV manufacturing process. It adopts tri-cluster CPU structure which consists of 1x Cortex-A76 with the clock speed of 2.3/2.4GHz, a Cortex-A76 with the clock speed of 2.2GHz and 6 Cortex A55 with the clock speed of 1.8GHz.

While the Snapdragon 730(G) is fueled by an 8nm process and adopt dual-cluster structure, which consists of 2x Kryo 470 Gold with the clock speed of 2.2 GHz and 6x Kryo 470 Silver with the clock speed of 1.8 GHz.

Through comparison, we can find that the new Snapdragon 765(G) offers higher CPU clock speed and more advanced process technology. And Qualcomm officially introduces that the new Snapdragon 730(G) is improved by 20% in performance compared to the predecessor, and its power consumption is reduced by 35% compared to the 8nm Snapdragon 730(G).

The Snapdragon 765(G) adopts Adreno 620 GPU, while the Snapdragon 730(G) adopts Adreno 618 GPU.

In the off-screen test of the three classic events of GFXBench Manhattan 3.0/3.1 and racing, Snapdragon 765G showed a big advantage over Snapdragon 730, with racing car leading 34% off-screen, Manhattan 3.1 leading 36%, and the tallest Manhattan 3.0 leading off-screen 38%, both higher than the theoretical figure of 32%.

Upgrade 4. Better AI performance

The new Snapdragon 765(G) adopts 5th Gen Qualcomm AI engine, which delivers 5.5 TOPS AI performance. That’s about a third of the 15TOPS in the Snapdragon 865. Qualcomm expects that it will be used for upscaling HD video to 4K, improving charging speeds, and offering contextually aware voice command sensing without excessively draining the battery.

The Spectra 355 ISP of the Snapdragon 765(G) can handle up to 192 MP image capture or up to 22 MP dual cameras with zero shutter lag. Similar to the Snapdragon 865, the Snapdragon 765 series can also perform native HDR, HDR+, HLG and HEVC video capture. While the Snapdragon 730(G) only supports HEVC video capture formats.

It has been confirmed that the Snapdragon 765G processor will be first used on Redmi K30 series phones. Presently, the AnTuTu benchmark score of Redmi K30 5G phone with the Snapdragon 765G chip has been exposed, which reaches a total score of 302847 points.

If the rumored AnTuTu benchmark score of the Snapdragon 765G is true, the Snapdragon 765G will offer much improved overall performance for smartphones.

What does the "G" mean?

The "G" means the "Gaming", so the Snapdragon 765G and Snapdragon 730G processor will offer better gaming performance than the basic model. For the Snapdragon 765G, it offers 10% faster graphics rendering than the standard Snapdragon 765.
