Sonos: importing local music on iPad or iPhone to Sonos is discontinued

ByLinky Johnson 2019-06-13 657

Recently, Sonos announced that they were discontinuing the direct connection to SonosNet with Android devices. Now the company has bad news for iPad and iPhone users as well.

They will remove the function to play local music from the iPad or iPhone from the app. Sonos recommends sending local music to AirPlay 2 speakers in the future or uploading local tracks to your own or a third-party server. This means that you can have the music on a network share - for example a NAS - or you can use Google Play Music to upload songs, 50,000 of which can (still) be stored there for free. Nevertheless, it's not exactly nice that this function has been removed.
