On May 21, 2019, Sony organized a major business meeting in Tokyo, the Sony IR Day 2019. Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki had the chance to participate in the event. The man unveiled on his Twitter account the highlights of the Sony conference, including the comparison of charging times between the PS4 Pro and the PS5.
In the short video published by Mochizuki, we see Sony highlight the speed of the future PS5. It takes only 0.83 seconds to load Spider-Man, a rather heavy game because of its advanced graphics, on the future console, which is not referred to as the PS5 during the presentation. For comparison, it still takes 8.10 seconds for the PS4 Pro to load the game Insomniac Games.
According to a Wired journalist who has already tested a prototype, the PS5 is indeed able to load a game in just 0.8 seconds. Not surprisingly, this performance is due to the integration of an SSD in the heart of the PS5. Faced with it, the PS4 Pro is content with a conventional hard drive. With its SSD, the future console will play "anytime, anywhere and without interruption," promises Kenichiro Yoshida, president of Sony Corporation.
In a press release issued on the sidelines of the conference, Sony took the opportunity to confirm part of the technical sheet of the PS5. Unsurprisingly, the console is compatible with 8K, with ray trading, with 3D sound and will benefit from backward compatibility with the games of the PS4. The release also promises an "immersive experience created by a greatly increased graphics rendering speed, achieved through the use of even more computing power." The manufacturer ensures that Playstation will remain "the best place to play", thanks to streaming, cloud and 5G. We tell you more as soon as possible about the PS5, which is not expected until 2020.
