TCL PLEX review: TCL's first smartphone arrives with 48 MP triple cameras and Snapdragon 675

Although the TCL brand sounds more like the muscle behind the latest Alcatel and BlackBerry and their television business, their interest in Android mobiles is consolidated in the new TCL PLEX, which reaches European markets to compete in the mid-range. The TCL PLEX takes advantage of the experience acquired by the company in the field of TV screens and reuses it in its terminal, with Snapdragon 675, a three-lens rear camera and a price of just over 300 euros.

The camera is not afraid of the dark

The front camera of the TCL PLEX consists of 24 megapixels with f/2.0 aperture and is incorporated in a perforation in the screen in the upper left corner, helping the reduced edges that achieve, according to official figures, a screen/body ratio of around 90%.

As for the rear camera, we have a curious horizontal arrangement with three lenses and two flashes, one on each side, make this TCL PLEX a terminal that certainly draws attention to the naked eye.

It's like we said about a three-lens camera, with a 48 megapixel main sensor with Sony IMX582 sensor and f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 16 megapixel super wide-angle and f/2.4 aperture. The third 2 megapixel sensor is used for low light environments, with large 2.9μm pixels for better brightness, even at night. The camera application has a Super Night Mode to get the most out of it.

Display with its own processing engine

The TCL PLEX display is a 6.53-inch Full HD+ resolution screen with a dedicated processor. It takes advantage of TCL NXTVISION technology for better color accuracy and more radiant images.

Inside is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 675, with the not inconsiderable 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage available to the user, expandable via a microSD card. The battery has a capacity of 3,820 mAh, with support for Quick Charge 3.0.

TCL PLEX price and availability

TCL PLEX will be available for sale during the fourth quarter of 2019 in selected markets in Europe at a recommended price of 329 euros. It is available in two colors: "obsidian black" and "opal white" (black and white).
