UK opened 5G network: OnePlus 7 Pro is the first 5G phone and Huawei absent

On May 30, local time, operator EE announced the opening of the UK's first 5G network and held a grand opening ceremony on the Thames. It is reported that the EE 5G network will first land in six cities of London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester, and the first 7G will become the first 5G mobile phone.

Fastest 980Mbps London signal coverage is better

Foreign media took to the streets of London to test the EE 5G network and found that the signal coverage is very wide, much better than the 5G network of US carriers. Basically, there are signals in famous landmarks such as St. Paul's Cathedral, Covent Garden, SOHO District, London Bridge, etc., including outdoor and bus, with a maximum speed of 980Mbps.

Of course, there will be 5G signal coverage on the street, but it can also reach 220Mbps, which is 10 times faster than EE's 4G network (20Mbps). However, the average upload speed is only 33Mbps, which is similar to 4G. According to the EE, 5G will be built at the speed of 100 base stations per month in the above six cities, and the signal is expected to be more and more extensive.

It should be pointed out that the current EE uses the Sub-6 band. The advantage of the millimeter wave is that the signal penetration is stronger and the coverage is wider, but the speed is slightly slower.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G starting monthly fee from about £54

At present, the OnePlus 7 Pro is the only 5G mobile phone that can be purchased in the EE network. The contract price is 150 pounds for the mobile phone, but the 5G package must be selected and promised to be online for two years. For the 5G package, it costs £54 a month, including unlimited calls, unlimited text messages, and 10GB of 5G traffic per month. If you include 30GB of 5G traffic, you need to pay £64, and the price of the phone drops to £50. EE currently offers a maximum monthly traffic of 120GB and is priced at £74.

It is reported that Samsung S10 5G, OPPO Reno 5G, LG V50 ThinQ will be listed in June, unfortunately Huawei's Mate20X 5G was originally canceled in the EE 5G mobile phone sales list, it should be related to Google's cancellation of its Android license
