1. Wotofo Serpent RDTA Intro
Wotofo Serpent RDTA, a newcomer to Serpent family after Serpent Mini RTA, Serpent RTA, Serpent Sub Tank and others, is the world's first single coil building RDTA atomizer and the first RDTA of Wotofo company. It features a large clamp style deck with a 22mm base, easy to wick. It is a genesis style atomizer and is compatible with both mech and box mods.
As an RDTA atomizer, it is a combination of RTA's storage capacity and a deck to build on. But the technology is still new, which may result in a few complexities in use: let's see how Wotofo has managed to address them.
√ Clamp style dual post deck, easy to wick and hold coils solid.
√ 22mm diameter, can be used for a lot of devices on both mech and box mods.
√ Great packaging with lots of accessories.
2. Wotofo Serpent RDTA Specs & features
Material: Pyrex glass + stainless steel
Size: 22 x 41mm (including drip tip)
Weight: 70g (2.47oz)
Dual post with large-clamp deck, supporting big size coils
Air holes redirect down to the coil for a exquisite flavor
Dual side fill holes on the deck for easy refilling
The package still follows the original Wotofo style - with the package contents written on the back of the box. However, there are a few discrepancies between the content on the box and what's actually inside. The contents of the box include 1pc Serpent RDTA, 1pc extra glass tank, 1pc black POM drip tip, 1pc twisted coil bag, 1pc screws and o-rings bag, 1pc cotton bag, 1pc T-shirt card (not show in the picture), 1pc hexagon screwdriver and 1pc user manual.
3. Wotofo Serpent RDTA exterior appearance
The stainless steel body coupled with a 22mm diameter and rounded shape make the Serpent RDTA incredibly compact and exquisite. And the Yellow PEI 510 drip tip adapter gives a bit of warmth to its cold metallic-colored exterior. The device looks solid and stylish.
It's clear that the company put quite a bit of effort into the smart design granting the model a nice sleek appearance.
4. Wotofo Serpent RDTA interior disassemble
The main components of the RDTA atomizer are the drip tip, 510 drip tip adapter, RDA stainless tank, RDA deck with dual post, RTA tank, RTA base, and the electric pole. For everyday use, you will just need to twist the RDA tube counterclockwise to refill or replace the cotton/coil. To clean the device or refill e-juice, complete disassembling is needed: screw off the electric pole from the bottom first and then twist off the e-liquid tank.
Let's take a detailed look at each of the components.
The internal SS drip comes with a tapered tip, the inner diameter of 7.5mm for the upper half and 6.5mm for the bottom half - this structure lets it prevent condensation.
The atomizer comes with an extra POM drip with a large air hole (inner diameter of 8.5mm) - meant for bigger clouds than the SS drip tip.
After you take off the drip tip, you will see the dome-shaped RDA tube with a smooth polished surface - the workmanship is quite good - and it allows for a denser and smoother vapor.
The deck is 8.5mm in height, not including the post - this type of design is commonly used in a RDA atomizers to ensure a more intense vapor. So, the Serpent RDTA is a real flavor orientated atomizer.
The deck is wide open with large clamps - easy to use and build on. It needs to be tightened manually, though - not as convenient as in models with spring loaded clamps. With that said, installing coils onto the deck is a breeze: the clamps will hold the coils firmly and won't need re-tightening while still leaving plenty of space between the clamps for coil building. The clamps work with the leads of up to 3mm wide - a great option for those who prefer big coils.
There are 4 air inlet holes 4mm in diameter in the center at the bottom which ensure generous air flow and a warm and smooth flavor.
On both sides of the deck, you will see 2 e-juice fill ports and an airflow spot (8mm by 2.5mm).
The fill ports come with a plastic ring protruding from the surface of the deck that guarantees no leakage after the RDA tank is covered. This design also helps avoid exposing the e-juice tank to high internal pressure and leading the issues like unable to oil-taking or squeeze out the cotton while filling the e-liquid.
Although you can easily refill the fill holes with glass bottle droppers, we recommend using an e-juice filler so as to avoid some of the liquid spilling.
Last but not least, there is the e-juice tank. At 2.5ml, it isn't much - you will probably need to replace it in 3 to 4 hours. This may be a con for those who prefer longer puff sessions. Another drawback may be the not-so-easy cleaning and juice replacement process: you will need to go all the way and screw off the golden pole at the bottom. But Wotofo Serpent makes up for the inconvenience with a stable no-leakage base.
5. How to use Wotofo Serpent RDTA
a. Take out the upper part (RDA tank + drip dip) from the base and screw up both screws from the post.
b. Set the coil onto the base and screw it in firmly with both screws.
c. Trim the extra coil, put the cotton into the coil and trim the remaining cotton bits.
Note: Do not leave too much cotton in the tank - the tank will lean slightly when you use it. I'd say, 25mm is plenty enough.
d. Use the tweezers to put the cotton into the wick hole and let the e-juice drip to wet the cotton. Then fill the tank and vape away!
In a market overflowing with big cloud chasers (atomizers with a 24mm/25mm base diameter deck), it's nice to see that Wotofo is not following this over-trodden path. The company opts for a flavor chase instead with its Serpent RDTA - bringing back the pleasure of intense taste and delicate vapor.
