With 16 cores and 32 threads, this processor works with base frequency of 3.5GHz and can reach up to 4.7GHz boost. It has an impressive 72MB cache, and a TDP of only 105W. Obviously it uses the Zen 2 architecture manufactured under TSMC's 7nm process, and will be compatible with the AM4 socket.
There is still no confirmation about its cost, for which we may have to wait until tomorrow. However, it is good to know that there is this model that takes full advantage of the two DIEs, and that there will be a good workstation platform without resorting to X299 or X399At the end of his big presentation of novelties at E3 2019, Phil Spencer, who is responsible for gaming at Microsoft, presented the next Xbox. It is expected to be launched at the end of 2020 and is currently called Xbox Scarlett - presumably this name, which has long been known as Leak, will be changed over the next few months.
The console should be able to calculate about four times as fast as the Xbox One X, says Microsoft. The company hasn't gone into this in more detail, but if it meant the flops, Scarlett would reach a value of around 24 flops - the Xbox One X finally comes up with around 6 flops (and the normal Xbox One with around 1.3 flops). Another comparison: According to the manufacturer, the Mac Pro just announced by Apple achieves about 56 Tflops in the most powerful expansion stage.
However, the pure computing power in gaming is not necessarily the all-important value. The loading times are also important, and Microsoft wants to virtually eliminate them with a "revolutionary" SSD. The whole thing should work so fast that the SSD can be used as virtual main memory - of course there is also one in the form of fast GDDR6.
With all the partly impressive performance data: It could of course happen that developers mercilessly use more data and larger textures, and sooner or later we see loading bars again with Scarlett.
There are no further details, such as the size of the memory or the SSD. For the next Playstation, Sony also relies on a presumably quite similar SSD technology, with which the reading of data should work about ten times as fast as with current technology. Scarlett uses processors developed with AMD, as expected Zen 2 and Navi.
This should enable frame rates of 120 fps and resolutions of up to 8K, as well as hardware-accelerated raytracing. According to Phil Spencer, the console is explicitly designed for gaming. In the run-up to the release of Xbox One in November 2013, Microsoft had made itself unpopular with the community with all too many multimedia considerations. Now Spencer apparently wants to avoid this mistake from the outset.
The price, appearance and other technical details will only be announced later by Microsoft. At least it is clear that Halo Infinite will be one of the - and probably the most important - start titles.
Anyone who wants to buy new hardware from Microsoft in the near future will have the opportunity to do so on November 4, 2019: the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, the successor to the first-class Elite controller with which you can play on Xbox One and Windows PC, will be released for around 180 euros. In addition to detail improvements such as better grip surfaces and support for Bluetooth, the Series 2 battery should last up to 40 hours..
