Xiaomi unveiled on Sunday in Barcelona the 5G version of its Mi Mix 3, a smartphone with a selfiecamera that slides out of the top. During the presentation, Xiaomi held a video call via 5G with an employee of telecom provider Orange.
The 5G appliance is available for sale in the first European countries in May and costs 599 euro. That's 100 euros more than the normal version of the unit. The 5G edition works with the new, more powerful Snapdragon 855 chip.
When the first 5G phones come to the market in the Netherlands, it is not yet clear. The auction of the first 5G frequencies takes place in our country at the earliest end of this year.
More manufacturers present their first smartphones with 5G this weekend prior to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Thus, Oppo announced its first 5G device on Saturday. It is also expected that Huawei and LG will follow.
Xiaomi also announced the European introduction of the new Mi 9. That unit with a 6.4 inch screen has three cameras on the back, including a 48 megapixel camera and a secondary camera with two times optical zoom. The fingerprint scanner is processed under the screen, as with more new smartphones.
The Mi 9 is with 20W Wireless to charge, which is faster than any other smartphones. According to the manufacturer, the battery (3300 mAh) can be recharged completely wireless in 100 minutes.
