A couple of weeks ago, Xiaomi released a beta version of the update for the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone, which added DC Dimming, which eliminates the flicker of the OLED screen at low brightness. Now Zhang Guoquan, head of Xiaomi's software department, announced the release of a feature for Chinese MIUI firmware.
He noted that the DC Dimming mode differs from the traditional method of solving the problem, when flickering and granularity on the screen are inevitable.
The function automatically adjusts the brightness by adjusting the voltage and current, changing the power consumption and "warming up" your smartphone. In a typical approach, the power supply power remains unchanged. The residual effects of this approach can be easily noticed if you take off the screen of your smartphone in muted mode on another mobile phone - dark bands will be immediately visible.
