Xiaomi MI A series phones landed in the second half of 2017 refreshing a catalog based entirely on the brand's proprietary software. Less than two years later and after officially landing in multiple markets, the Chinese manufacturer has several successful product lines, but the Xiaomi Mi A3 remains one of the most eagerly awaited terminals of the year.
This is by no means one of Xiaomi's most ambitious lines. Still, it occupies a special place for its simpler software and excellent value for money. The latter is due to technical features that tend to bring more and more capabilities of an ambitious mid-range at very low prices.
Both the Mi A1 and Mi A2 arrived as a reissue of terminals already distributed in China. These were, respectively, the Mi 5X and Mi 6X that anticipated a few months before the official presentations of their versions with Android One. Otherwise, they are essentially identical smartphones.
The life of the Mi A line is still short and its movements are therefore somewhat difficult to anticipate. The Mi A1 was introduced at the beginning of September, while the Mi A2 pair was brought forward at the end of last July. It would be expected that if we see a new one in 2018, it will arrive during the next month, although there is no confirmation.
While some initial rumours pointed to the Snapdragon 730 as the processor of the Xiaomi Mi A3 from the brand vice president's own statements, these could have been covered with the launch of the Redmi K20. This was replaced at the European level, or outside India, by the recent Xiaomi Mi 9T.
However, other leaks pointed to slightly more modest processors - Snapdragon 710 or 712 - from the brand in up to three different models, where the next Mi A3 with the code names Bamboo Sprout or Cosmos Sprout could be included. This would be likely since Sprout names have already been used in previous Mi A terminals. In addition, they would be accompanied by an unknown third terminal called Pyxis.
As already mentioned, Xiaomi is used to bringing Mi A's as a reprint of other Mi phones previously presented in Asia. The most recent manufacturer's brand corresponds to the Xiaomi CC and arrives focused on photography for a youth audience. Under this land two terminals, the CC9 and CC9e, which will be presented today at an event in China.
If the last filtration is correct, the Xiaomi CC9 could be the mould on which the next Mi A3 is based. So says at least one of the most active members of the Xiaomi community, who relates the product codes of this generation and the previous one. The Mi A3 could therefore be a version of any of the Xiaomi CC9.
But according to the final characteristics of these, and joining the points that we know until now -also the price, more adjusted in the version 'e'-, everything points to the Xiaomi CC9 is a great point of reference to renew the line Mi A.
This is also supported if we consider the latest filtration, in which one of these devices has been found running Android One. However, in this case it is the CC9e version, with a smaller processor than the reference version.
If this is true, the rest of the features of the Mi CC9 could remain relatively intact, being according to the following:
● Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 eight-core
● RAM: 6 GB
● Storage: 64/128 GB
● Graphic: Adreno 616
● Screen: 6.4 inches, FullHD+, OLED and notch drop type
● Rear camera: Triple 48, 13, and 8 MP
● Front camera: 32 MP
● Ports: USB C and optical on-screen fingerprint sensor
● Battery: 4,000 mAh with 18 W fast charge
● Android version: Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10
● Price: 230/260 euros, 260/290 dollars or $5,000/5,550 pesos in Mexico, at the direct exchange rate
In any case, not all this information is confirmed, and this is based on what different sources have been providing over the last few weeks. It is possible that these may be heading in one direction or the other, although the Mi A3 should be one of the next on Xiaomi's renewal list.
