The new Mi Router 4A can operate in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, through which it can transmit up to 1,167 Mbps. It has an error correction algorithm to have a more stable data transmission. It also has 4 high gain antennas. Xiaomi today launched two models: one with 100M Ethernet, and another with Gigabit Ethernet.
At the software level, it is compatible with the MiWiFi app, in addition to offering firmware updates through OTA (the system is based on OpenWRT). Some new features will arrive to the MiWiFi app next May, such as not having to enter the Wi-Fi password with each smart device we connect to the home.
IPv6 support will also be added through the app, and currently the connected devices can be managed, blocking access to websites, limiting the Internet speed and the bandwidth that each device can access, or limiting the access time for children. The app shows notifications on the mobile every time a new device is connected to the network.
The memory of the router is 64 MB, and allows to connect up to 64 devices between WiFi and LAN, being compatible with MIMO and 256QAM. In the 5 GHz band only operates on channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161 and 165, coinciding only the first 4 with those used in Europe and we already detailed in the comparison of 2 , 4 GHz vs 5 GHz.
Thus, Xiaomi establishes in five routers the new range depending on the broadband available, as well as the range of its WiFi (the Mesh is lower because it is intended to be used with two or more repeaters):
Xiaomi Mi Router 4C: up to 100 Mbps, 90 m2 and 32 devices
Xiaomi Mi Router 4A: up to 100 Mbps, 120 m2 and 32 devices
Xiaomi Mi Router 4A Gigabit: more than 100 Mbps, 120 m2 and 64 devices
Xiaomi Mi Router Pro: more than 100 Mbps, 150 m2 and 128 devices
Xiaomi Mi WiFi Mesh: more than 100 Mbps, 120 m2 and 248 devices
The price of this new Mi Router 4th is 119 RMB, or 15.7 euros to change. It is already on sale in China, and will soon appear on other export websites. The price of the version with Gigabit Ethernet has not transpired since this model has not yet been published on the Xiaomi website. The Gigabit model costs 169 RMB, about 22.3 euros to change.
