If between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Redmi Note 5 The differences in design were minimal, with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 The thing changes. Although we do not know its dimensions, it is known that it has practically the same size as its predecessor, having a similar screen size (something bigger in the Redmi Note 7) and better profit margins.

But beyond the size of the devices, where we find the main differences is in building materials. On this occasion, the new middle range of Xiaomi has materials based on the glass all over its body and aluminium at the edges. The Redmi Note 6 Pro, by cons, opts for aluminum and plastic based materials on the sides of the device.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Redmi Note 5

As for the lines of the two terminals, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 presumes to have a lower margins higher and lower thanks mainly to the implementation of a smaller notch than in the case of Redmi Note 6 Pro. The rear of both equipment, although quite different in colors and materials, has a distribution of the similar components (camera and fingerprint sensor). Redmi Note 7 highlights the variety in terms of colors "gradients" available for your backside (blue, pink, shiny black...).

Surely the screen is one of the components of mobile Xiaomi that less varies between models of different ranges, and the Redmi Note 7 was not to be an exception, as both panels have similar technical characteristics.

In summary, we find two panels with IPS technology of 6.3 and 6.26 inches in size with the same resolution Full HD + and a ratio of 19.5:9 and 18:9. In this aspect, the panel of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is somewhat more elongated due to its higher display ratio.

Redmi Note 7 screen

With respect to the other features, the two screens have 84% of the color spectrum NTSC and 450 and 480 nits of brightness respectively. Translated into Castilian means that the two panels have a similar color calibration and a virtually identical brightness, although lower in the case of the Redmi Note 7.

Camera set

We came to one of the most interesting sections of the photographic section. Although the technical specifications (lacking the data on the focal aperture) tell us that we find a superior camera in the case of Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, the truth is that the two sensors that make up the main camera of the two terminals are very similar.

In technical specifications we find a camera based on two 48 and 5 megapixel sensors with focal aperture f/1.8 in the Redmi Note 7. These 48 megapixels, according to different specialized media, are achieved thanks to the interpolation of 12 real megapixels with pixels of 0.8 Picómetros (12 x 0.8/2 = 48 megapixels), which in practice results in more defined photographs and more detail, Although nothing compared to a real 48 megapixel sensor.

Redmi Note 7 rear camera

As for its predecessor, we find the same camera distribution but with different characteristics (12 and 5 megapixels and aperture focal F/1.9 and F/2.0). Compared to Note 7, the Note 6 Pro's camera has less detail and slightly less luminosity due to its opening. The result in all other photo modes (portrait mode, Artificial Intelligence mode...) is expected to be similar due to the features of your secondary camera and MIUI software treatment.

Note 6 Pro's camera

What about the front camera? In this aspect, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is very superior, since it integrates two cameras of 20 and 2 megapixels with focal aperture F/2.0. The Note 7 is based on a single 13 megapixel sensor with unknown aperture (f/2.0 according to our predictions). Photos in more detail and best results in portrait mode are expected from the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

Autonomy and connectivity

If something boasts the average-range mobiles of autonomy, and is not for less, because in both devices the battery capacity exceeds the other proposals of other brands.

In particular, the two terminals have a 4,000 mAh module with fast loading. The only difference between the Note 7 and the Note 6 Pro is that the first has a USB connection type C, while the second one has only micro USB connection. Because of the latter, it is to be expected that the loading speed in Note 7 is higher than its predecessor, although we must remember that Xiaomi is not accustomed to include a compatible charger in the box.

In what has to do with connectivity, here the differences are minimal. Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi Dual Band and GPS GLONASS. However, the Redmi Note 6 has an FM Radio, a feature that has not yet been confirmed in Note 7. Unfortunately, neither of us has NFC.

Processor and memory

The main change between the two midrange Xiaomi phones comes from the processor hand and memory. The features of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 are composed of a Snapdragon processor 660, 3, 4 and 6 GB of RAM and 32 and 64 GB of internal storage (it is unknown if it can be extended). In essence, the same characteristics as the Xiaomi my A2.

With regard to the characteristics of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, the terminal has a processor Snapdragon 636, 3 and 4GB of RAM and 32 and 64 GB of storage expandable by microSD cards up to 256 GB. Roughly speaking, the Redmi Note 7 has a slightly higher hardware than the Redmi Note 6, not only by processor, but also by RAM memory. Also the graphic module (Andreno 512 vs. Enreno 509) is quite superior, converting the Note 7 into a game-oriented mobile.

Last but not least, it should be noted the increased energy efficiency of the Snapdragon 660 compared to 636, which will result in more favorable consumption for the Redmi Note 7, although this always depends on the use we give the device.

Seen all the important points of the two mobiles of Xiaomi, it touches draw conclusions. In virtually every aspect, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is superior to its predecessor, with the exception of the cameras, which we will have to test to assess their real differences. In the rest of points, the Note 7 undoubtedly surpasses its homologous model because, in essence, it is a Xiaomi my 8 Lite (or Xiaomi my A2) with different design and construction. Precisely the latter makes it of good insurance the most interesting mobile in the catalogue of Xiaomi, and this is due in good part to the price.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro part of a price ranging from 199 euros to 249 in Spain (you can find cheaper in some import shops). The price of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, although not yet confirmed in Spain, can be found in China at a value of 128 euros, going through the 153 euros of its intermediate version and 178 euros of the most powerful version. On arrival in Spain is to be expected that all these values increase up to 169, 199 and 259 euros respectively, however, under our humble opinion, we still seem a terminal much more attractive than its similar even in price equality.

Is it worth the change if you have a Remdi Note 5 or a Redmi Note 6? Not at all. Although it has superior characteristics, the differences in aspects such as the camera, the performance autonomy are hardly noticeable.
