YouTube is full of music videos, first shared by ordinary users. The record companies then directly opened their channels or those of their artists. This is particularly the case for one of the majors, UMG, Universal Music Group.
Known at this time to be the rightful owner posting a lot of videos on the platform, they have partnered with YouTube to share remastered clips.
The objective is clear: to give a second youth to this kind of video which, if it is a few years old, may lack an HD version and not offer the optimal experience to listen to the song and say "Wow, I'm old actually".
In a post on the YouTube blog, relayed by Neowin, Stephen Bryan, director of relations with YouTube music labels explains:
It is an honor to work with UMG and to be able to change the way fans around the world watch some of the most legendary videos. The quality is exceptional. It is our goal that current video clips - true works of art - benefit from the quality standards that artists' work deserves and that fans expect.
Some of the artists who will see their clips improved include Billy Idol, Beastie Boys, Boyz II Men, George Strait, Janet Jackson, Kiss, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Lionel Richie, Maroon 5, Meat Loaf, No Doubt/Gwen Stefani, Smokey Robinson, The Killers, and Tom Petty.
To know if the clip has been reworked, just go to the description and there should be the mention "Remastered in HD".
Unfortunately, still no trace of the remastering of Tom Frager's Lady Melody clip.
